just did a rear axle oil seal replacement on the wife's S-blazer. need to do my ranger also. i tried the search but keep getting a blank white page. im thinking the ranger rear axle (open diff) uses the same basic retention setup as the g.m., where you slide out the cross pin from the spiders, push the axles in to remove the "C" washers then slide the shafts out of the housing. am i correct here? drivers side is sligltly leaking. i figure i'll do both, just as i had done on the blazer. the blazer was real bad, soaked the brake shoes, the ranger is leaking some down the inside of the backplate, but not bad enough to coat the inside of the drum and ruin the shoes. at least for now. the ranger has 137,000 on it now, the blazer has 177,000. if it wasnt so much id throw a lock-rite locker in it, but thats just a bit much right now. both vehicles have radiator issues too, the joys of having older stuff!
