I am confused if removing catalytic is legal or not. Help to understand it. Any comment would be greatly appreciated. :headbang:
 
There is a sticky at the top ot the exhaust forum explaining this. But the short and simple fact is yes it is against federal law to remove cats.
 
No muffeler shop will remove a cat without putting one back on. If the vehicle came stock with a cat it has to be there.
 
not on my reservation, but that's a whole different ball game, I still run one tho..
 
I think it depends where you are. Here in Utah it varies by county. Out in the rural areas it's not required, but a shop won't remove it unless you do like 7.5L_STX says. In Salt Lake if it's an 84 or newer it must have a converter, but still.....no shop will remove it.
 
anybody know about Canada?? i cant find any laws on it up here
 
its amazing how many people come in here about cats but can't read
 
It is a federal offense to remove emissions control devices period.
