Ford Ranger v8 swap California Legal emissions?

How much HP does the v8 swap give you. I read that the 5.0 v8 2001 explorer motor is rated only at 215hp

215HP sounds about right, You get more stock Hp from a 1.6 honda! The good thing about the stock Mountaineer v8 is the Torque.

I may sell my 2wd Ranger that Recently passed Bar testing if the price is right. I want to do another Ranger swap with either a Chevy Ls motor or a twin turbo V6.
I went and look at the 2011 Ranger and it was beat up real bad so i offered a real low price and he wouldn't take it so i walked. The dash was ducked taped and glued together like someone had tried to steal it. I was taped and glued around the ignition. The tail light was busted and the car look recently sprayed like someone had tried to cover up something. It had no power Windows witch i would have lived with. The motor or engine was dropping oil as well tires were cracking and the bed was beat up real bad.

So I even offered 5000 and he said it was worth 12000 so i walked. It was suppost to be a dealership but it was only a warehouse with a single employee.

I think he buys the cars at auction then marks them up then in house finances and charges high interest.

I haven't bought a car since 2012. My Mustang witch was 3 years older than the truck looks excellent by comparison. I just had it painted. I took good care it as well. Its got 144000 miles on it. Its a 4.0 v6 Mustang.
So you have a v8 swapped Ranger, I am interested in seeing it. Do you live in California?

I can show you my truck if you are interested, its mechanically spot on but has some paint fade and needs a new driver's seat or repairing, truck bed floor is scratched up from the previous owner.
Zero rust as It's been a California truck all its life.
send me a Private message for my contact details.

any swap in cali brings harsh attention to detail. not overly easy especially since some emissions parts are difficult to deal with.

a nissan v8 or toyota v8 would be interesting.

i have not worked with those platforms in the ranger yet.

with the older ttb/tib chassis

very little gain over the v6 4.0 is why i would not swap the explorer windsor based 5.0 over a 5.3 or 6.0....

stock for stock there is no contest .

the 5.0 has to at least have a cam and intake opened up with decent swap headers...and that costs alot to stay cali compliant and still has less power then the 5.3.

the coyote 5.0 is definitely a monster.....but the 5.3 is a cake swap. and the cost of a typical coyote exceeds the value of most project rangers.....though to be fair so does the ecoboost 2.3
