Rattling sound after tranny fluid change

If you're directly under the truck while someone is in with it in gear and has it braked you here it the loudest in the bellhousing area. I don't think it can be the locker due to the fact it's not even spinning. It actully does it in part too just not as loud as when it's in a gear.

ok just making sure to rule it out, had a friend with a chevy p/u, he heard a constant grinding noise when driving, swore it was from the trans, so we tore the pan off, looked perfect, too the rear dif cover off, and a gear snapped off the pinion and was wedged between the ring gear and the cover :bawling:

Yeah, I know you're just trying to figure it out. thanks

So today I changed engine oil and trans fluid again to rule out any fluid issue. Also I made sure the heat shield was secure.

One thing I should have mentioned before is that there is a lot of tranny fluid everywhere under the engine and bell housing, even dripping off the oil filter. That's why I thought of maybe a overfill. It wasn't like that before. I cleaned it all up today and I'll see if it's back tomorrow after I get to work.

My plan tommorrow is too remove the starter and see what I can see inside with the flex plate and torque converter.

The more I listen under there I swear it sound like it's coming from the oil pan area. But if it's the flex plate I'd imagine the sound can radiate to that area.

Son of a B this thing is really stressin me out since it's my daily driver. If it's the flex plate it's not that bad. It's cheap but pullin the tranny will be a bitc* since I have no air tools nor torches.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Shi*, you guys are gonna kill me. I just remembered I have a pretty substantial leak in my gas filler tube. (they suck and rot in what seems to be days). It actually threw a "large vac leak" code. I haven't fixed it yet because of blah blah blah busy busy yada yada.

Does anything in the engine that uses vacuum be rattling cause it isn't functioning properly? I haven't really noticed anything fishy beside the noise. I have good power and the tranny shifts smoothly.

Also the vac leak threw the code I think Monday, and autozone read the code for me. I just think it's weird that the rattle sound came immediately after that first fluid change?

Have everything removed and ready to pull tranny today after work. I'm praying to see some cracks in that flex plate.

Weird thing is after working on it for 4 hours last night I had a dream it was the main bearings. There is a leak coming from those areas. Damn my subconsious! I really hope I'm wrong and it's the damn flex plate.

Has any done bearings on this engine? I know this is the wrong forum but jeeze.

Well sorry for the delay but I completed the job. I pulled my torque convertor and had it rebuilt. It ended up being on the verge of blowing up. Now it drives like a champ. They even mad it low stall for me, which I like a lot. Now the next job is new clutches in the trac lok. It's always something, isn't it?
