1994 Mazda B2300 2.3 liter engine rattling sound

I have a 1994 Mazda B2300. When I am driving I experience a rattling noise at around 2200-2300 rpm. This occurs in every gear. The truck operates fine otherwise although it has insufficient power which is due to the engine. The dealer said that this was normal and it was the fuel injectors. The vehicle has a 2.3 liter Mazda engine. Does anybody have any ideas how to resolve this issue?

Does changing the load on the engine change the noise ? There are a lot of things that can make a rattle noise. Are you sure it's from the engine and not the exhaust. Will it make the noise when parked with the RPM at 2,200/2,300 ? The injectors make more of a tick noise you can hear at idle with the hood open, not a rattle when driving.

No it doesn't. It's a 2.3 Ford engine from the Lima family.

The Mazda 2.3, is the DOHC Duratec, found in +01 Rangers and B2300s.

Two completely different animals. With no interchangeability at all.

Anyways...
I had a truck with a similar noise. Turned out to be a wristpin knocking, and I found out the day that my rod went through my piston.

You can see, in the oil pan here, there are chunks of a piston and the block, as well as a set of rings, and coolant contaminated oil.

Just saying, worst case scenario...
