Rat Ranger Build

Thanks!

Looks like an awesome idea. How much is it going to pick up the rear running the springs like that? Considered doing it before myself
===============================================
Actually, I believe I'm gonna have to get some longer shackles, as it's really squattin in the rear, lil' more than I care for:icon_confused:

I mounted the Explorer mounts at a point that put the front spring bolt in the same location as original, and in hindsight (which is ALWAYS 20/20:icon_idea:), I could of mounted my homemade shackle mounts to the bottom of the frame, not notched it, and used longer shackles.

Thanks for the PN... Awesome. Kinda makes me want to do one too...
YOUR WELCOME!

sharp........real sharp:headbang:

makes me look like i'm movin in slow motion with my project......wait!........I am:icon_surprised:

i gotta look at the pics agin...

Edit: after my rear shackle flip/removed over-load leafs.....I'm measuring 22 inches from the ground to the bottom-side of the frame behind the last cross-member on the chassis.Just wondered what your frame height is at the back end ?

Edit: I tried using longer shackles on my '89 to raise the chassis a couple inches, but it worked the opposite way....the longer shackles let the leaf springs relax even more when I set the bed back on the chassis......I ended up drilling new holes in the shackles closer to the upper shackle holes to allow abut 1/4" between the spring eye & the frame eye....it raised the chassis about 2" because they wouldn't let the springs relax so much ....

Edit: I also had to get everything in place before I could shim the differential angle to match the drive shaft angle.

Ummm............

I like it...so with the rat rod are you goin for a gasser look. It would be super cool to have an old gasser look to a ranger. Raise the front and put a straight axle under it??? Plus lots of room for fender well headers. Think about it! hahaha NICE F**KING RIDE!!
========================================
ONLY rat rod part of this build is in NAME ONLY!

If ya reread my original post, I said it was "my version" and "I doubt it's what the rat rod crowd would expect"...........no straight axle gasser Ranger here!:shok:

Rat(BBC) Ranger:icon_twisted:.........in other words, another B*STARD or as some would say, "Built Ford tough with Chevy stuff"!:yahoo:

Fenderwell headers may happen, the ones pictured above look like the tires would rub them:icon_confused:...........

AND, THANKS for the kudos!!!:icon_thumby:

Gasser look wouldn't work (though it would make lots of room for the headers!!!!). You gonna murder it out in flat/satin black paint?

Update 4-14-09

Went with longer shackles to level it up some, frame is 19" from ground:

Made some shock mounts :icon_welder:(1/4" flat stock & piece left from 2X4 rectangular tubin cut in half), haven't decided whether I'm gonna weld em on or bolt em:

you know its gonna cause more problems then its worth.

sbf put out more power, and its the only engine it should have in it. i mean whoever puts a chevy in a ford is like putting a autozone muffler on a honda. your just like everyone else.

i hope you know im busting balls at this point. i love it. its gonna be sick. but be careful. bbc, in a 2500 pound truck equals, well doorgunners explorer after his wife drove it
