on the first t-case,the rear output was left on.both cases are twin-sticked,so the front and rear outputs can be controlled independently.when in 2wd,the second case has what used to be the front output-now the rear,engaged and the other in neutral.the first case the rear output just stays in neutral all the time.
so if you wanted. you could have a rwd truck. Then one day say "Ok I feel like fwd" then have it in fwd, then go to 4x4? Insane.
im almost positive you can do that with any twin stick transfercase. he can just do it with 194 different gear choices

hi or low range, front drive no problem.
