ya,i still haven't given him my offer,but i figure i'll do it.it's a good starting point,anyway.

the next decicion is whether to carry on with the 5speed switch,or go with the c6 again.

So when the new 460 goes in, what's the fate of the "old" one and the "spare" in the ambulance? Just spares or another project?

the ambulance is long gone,it's engine is what's in the ranger now.it's a good engine, but should get a rebuild.the original engine from the ranger was destroyed when someone(who:icon_confused:)didn't put antifreeze in it before the winter.so i'll have the new one,the ambulance motor as a spare, and the 460 in the b2,which has had enough mud go down the gullet that it's about had it.plus,i've got the c6 in the b2,the new c6 i'll be getting, and the 5 speed that'll most likely end up spinning gears in the ranger.

this will be the last year for the b2,it'll meet an ugly end after the mud bog,but it's vital organs will be donated to the next bit of insanity.

that's a whole other thread:D

Since we're on the subject of catastrophic failures here, have you ever considered the damage your "ultimate parking brake/theft deterent" could do? Just think if you werent careful and had one of the 435s in two gears and pulled your foot off the clutch. Best case is the engine dies. Worst case i guess you find a weak link...

trust me,i've learned all about what can happen:icon_rofl:

well, with the auto that was in it there wasn't too much problem when locked up trying to take off,but before i refined the shifter setup it would sometimes jump into two gears at once while under load, usually when bouncing up an obsacle with a bunch of throttle.

let's just say i learned more than once that third gear is the weak spot in an np435.

i also sheared off the output shaft on the second 435 before when a water-filled second 205 froze solid and i tried to take off.through all of this stuff i didn't break the welded inputs on the trannys, though.i did manage to strip all the teeth off the input gear.

Worked out any kind of fix to prevent accidental engagement of two gears?

yah,it was just a matter of making some lockout plates for the auxillary shifters.flip a tab down and they stay in place.

i've got too much to get done on other stuff first.till then it'll be an ever morphing set of ideas rolling around in my noggin.but it will be a ranger.
