So, I have a '94 Ford Ranger 4.0 4×4 Pick-up truck.
We keep having to put in new clutches as we do a lot of heavy load hauling and I guess we didn't get a heavy duty enough clutch. However, since our most recent clut h replacement I'd say about 2 days after picking it up its been doingbthis thing where it bogs down and wants to die. It is also idling at times higher than usual at around 1.5rpms instead of its usual .5rpms. There have been random times when the bogging down is do much in affect that when you push the peddle for more gas which used to push past the bogging down it would at times instead almost do nothing until releasing the gas peddle but it wouldn't do enough to keep it running. We've tried changing out the fuel filter, coil pack, plugs and wires and we're completely at a loss of what the issue could be. However, the issue is much worse now because the truck turns over and starts but immediately shut off now making it inoperable. We're thinking it could be a fuel pump but that's a guess and it could be something in the tank or a sensor or idk. If anyone can help to point us in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

High idle points usually to a vacuum leak. Which will also cause bogging. Will it stay running once youre on the throttle?

Welcome to the site.

Changed clutch and now it idles high and no power...

Any chance the EGR (if it even has any?) was broken and now pulling fresh air? It's also possible to tilt engine far enough back to cause the intake tube to slip off. At least if you have the solid plastic one that just has a couple boots one the ends.

Pull some codes - at least you would have a general direction - and it would certainly help us help you.
OBD1 testers are cheap.

This is what i use. Really simplifies the code pulling process

^ That really is the easiest way. WAY better than counting flashes.
