Ranger dies when u take oil cap off!

I have a 92 ranger 2.3 5 speed 2wd has almost 200,000 miles on it. Runs excellent idles perfect. It smokes a little blue when u let the engine hold back and start back into the throttle. But the big prob was today I took the oil cap off while it was running and it died? Any suggestions? I just changed the intake gasket,valve cover gasket and iac valve. Thanks

You created a big vacuum leak when you removed the oil cap. kind of like taking the brake booster hose off while it is running.

Ok thanks just checking. I had done it back in the day on a few and never had one do that lol
