I have a delema today and I was trying to get some opinions. So i have a 1995 Ranger XLT 4.0 and i love fast trucks and big trucks. I was wondering if i should do an engine swap for a 302 to make it quick or put a reasonable lift and put decently big tires on it. Realistically not looking to spend more than $3000 and if I swap motor and tranny most, if not all work will be done by me and some help. It is a daily driver but i dont drive that far. Open to any suggestions

For a DD the lift and tires would be the quicker job to get done, but it'll hurt gas mileage and make the truck a little slower. The 5.0 swap would result in a more fun DD, but takes longer and potentially turns your DD into a unexpected long term project.

I'm assuming that you want to end up with both 5.0 and lift with bigger tires? If it were my truck I'd do the lift and tires, should be doable in a weekend no problem and stay within your price range. I'd start researching and collecting parts for the 5.0 swap, then save it until your truck needs a motor or has a lot of down time.
