I have a 93 Ranger with a manual trans and I am having trouble getting the 4x4 to work. I have replaced the shift control module test light on it blinks 4 or 5 times indicating it is good, but when I press the 4x4 button nothing happens the module doesn't click the 4x4 lights don't turn on or anything. I have checked the wires for the correct voltages and ohms everything looks good except for the speed sensor ohms read 0 compared to 250 - 450 area and there is also no voltage to the shift motor. Any suggestions?

Well problem solved. I will post my solution in case someone else has this problem. Basically the issue was the shift module was "confused" and didn't know what position it was in, and because of that the module wouldn't give the shift motor power. What I did was move the shift motor manually to 2 wheel drive and 4x4 low. In order to do this you need to jump wires at the power pigtail that goes to the module or underneath the truck at the shift motor. So here is what I did, by GROUNDING the ORANGE wire and giving the YELLOW +12 volts the motor moved to 2 wheel drive position. Then I did the opposite I gave the ORANGE wire +12 volts and GROUNDED the YELLOW wire making it move to 4x4 low You can hear the motor move. After that I plugged in the module and it worked perfectly, the lights came on and the module relays clicked. Don't forget to double check the wiring on your shift motor to make sure you are giving ground and power to the right wires you could cause major damage (you probably already knew that).
