Rangebe...version 2.0

Back at it boys.

Decided to make A-Pillar tie-ins to the cage.

Made a pattern, and cut out pieces from 0.125 plate.

Drilled holes, and dimple-died

Repeated for the other side, and tacked in place, I will need to paint behind these areas before final welding.

I have a few more small gussets I want to make, and then will get back to finishing the rear cage, mounting fuel cell, and radiator.

Cheers.

Does Canadia even have Harbor Freight?

It's a Princess Auto press, USA; Harbor Freight=Princess Auto;Canada

I want an internal cage just so i can have a pillar tie ins like that

looks good, I need to get back on my project too!

Started working on mounting the bed cage for good.

Figured out some final measurements and pulled the rear cage.

This cross member is super beefy so I wanted to keep it, but it had a big hump in the middle, so cut out the hump, welded in a plate to make the whole thing level. The fuel cell will be partially supported by this.

I'm using 0.250" thick plates that are bolted together, sandwiching the frame, and welding the cage to those mounting plates.

Internal supports beneath the plates will help with load bearing, and I will likely box the frame.

Also started on the fuel cell mounts, created a cradle out of angle for the cell to sit in. The cell will be positioned directly behind the cab.

More to come.

Also got some more gussets done.

Been working on mounting the fuel cell.

Here's what I started with:

Added a bar across the bottom of the main hoop.

Then proceeded to cut the bar out, and weld in a set of disconnects.

Made another tube crossmember for the fuel tray to sit on, and welded everything up.

I have already started making the cell hold downs, will post more about that and finish it this week.

Cheers.
