Rangebe...version 2.0


After consulting with some desert guys, this is what I ended up doing for triangulation.

Vertical tube for stress applied from bump stop in case anyone was wondering why. Also note rough placement of the rad.
 
Well most people angle the shocks forward a few degrees to counteract wheel hop which also makes that long of a shock unnecessary. Most people I know run a 16in rear with leaf springs, the truck I co-drive only runs 14's but he has his limited to match the fronts 12in of travel. Also do you have any leaf separation at full droop?
 
You are a bit mistaken. I have NO separation at droop (that Im calling travel), if I counted separation Id be closer to 19". The shocks leaned forward helps SOME with hop, but the main reason is for lack of bind. Proper mounting of shocks requires cycling first: at full droop with shock extended draw an arc, then at full bump with shock compressed draw and arc; the intersection of these arcs is where you need to mount the shock, which happens to be leaned forward in most cases.

Not to change the topic, but I think given your background Nathan your grill needs teeth. Like the big nasty teeth you see on the front of a Peterbilt or Kenworth :icon_rofl:

Isthe engine your using MAF ?
 
Its technically a speed density motor, but yes it will be converted to MAF.

Forgot to post this the other day....this is what happens when you slip and your arm falls on a red hot piece of metal tube lol

On a side note, finished welding up the cage tonight. I need to find a 1 piece rear window, and install it before I weld up the cage for good to the frame.
 
Ouch... I've done that to my hand before. Went to drag myself under the truck and grabbed the exhaust instead of the driveshaft.

I realize all of that, I just don't see how that equals an 18in shock. But if you cycled it and thats what it came out to then run it
 
When building a crazy stroker engine, what will our fueling plans be? Running this thin on propain would be sweet

Dual electric pumps. Ill be running a single 255 walboro for now, will step it up when I go bigger.

Might get a chance to do some metal work today....will post later.
 
Damn that looks painful. It actually reminded me of pictures from a flesh eating disease I was shown recently.

The truck looks great, btw.

Our race truck runs a 14in bypass and pulls about 16in of travel, and it has been cycled. And its going to a 16in cause it is being linked
 
Didnt know you owned a race truck, just thought you had the ranger. You kind of proved my point though....youre saying the truck had 14's, and now you have to buy 16's because youll have more travel once linked?...could have made the 16's to work from the beginning with leaves, and then wouldnt have had to buy another set once linked. Its easy to strap a shock thats too long, but you cant add travel to an existing shock without swapping bodies/shafts.....

Edit: ordered more 1.75" 0.120" wall DOM....time for interior cage/engine cage....
