Ran the tranny low for a few secs

So this trip is turning into a nightmare. Had a head gasket pop, but a fellow ranger station member is giving me a running 4.0 to get me to alaska. But on the way to his shop the tranny started whining for a few secs. I pulled over immediately, and the tranny was a quart low! The rear seal went out while pulling a long hill. I topped her off a few times on the way, and there was only noise one more time (a pint low) in 350mi. No chunks/flakes in fluid, no noise since, gonna replace the output shaft seal in the next couple days. Is it likely that, since there are no new noises that the tranny was fine and I didn't hurt it since I pulled over immediately and got lube back on the bearings?

Thanks.

the pump may have cavitated particular if the tranny was hot.
fluid thins as it gets hot

Yeah, your trans is probably fine. The M5OD is a tough critter.
