I ran over a water pipe and now truck wont start.

I thought the fuel pump circuit used a switched 0v instead of 12v.
If your checking from ground to 12v you may be seeing power, but without the 0v no go.

I would check for power right on the two wires that go to the pump.

if you have power on those two wires and nothing happens, pump is dead.

In 93, fuel pump gets switched 12volts. Fuse location, relay location, inertia switch, ground connection, are all shown in the video I linked above. It’s an easy circuit to troubleshoot.

You're right. This is one of many reasons I am frustrated.

How does anyone survive 2 seconds on the trail when I cant even half ass fall into a sprinkler hole at a neighbor buddys yard and not make it home?!?

I was almost there too backing out in 4 low, just needed another inch when she quit and been dead since. It really pissed me off.

Ever been in a fight with the significant other, but its a truck?

Apologies for the dramaticism, been a rough year for poor rogue Eddo.

I bought a new set of maxi fuses after reading they can be bad despite looking good.

Gonna check for hot at the wires but its pouring rain right now, which is rare around here so of course my wrench area is mucked out.

I ate enough mud pulling her out, fixing my buddys pipe (in many ways), and towing the ranger home behind my F150, kid cousin behind the wheel.

Its funny how that hated 5.4 is the reliable workhorse in my world.

Will report back after more poking around.

Thanks for sticking around this lame thread guys. I hate asking stupid questions, but hey we all become stumped sometimes.

Sorry for the lame thread guys, please read my above post to emphasize.

As some of you may know. I am kind going through a tough time. To where this is both worst timing ever, and a blessing in disguise as a pleasant distraction.

I gotta fix my ranger though, I don't feel right when she wont start. No pulse.

Man I can't help at all, mine has always started right out the gate, no fuel, no nothing, turn the key and vroom!

Well at least most of the time. It died on the highway once and all I could get was a sickly sputtering and it die again. Got an out of work cousin to haul it home and after tinkering a minimal amount while driving the Explorer and not much worrying about it. One day I tried and it fired right up, as if it had just awakened after a bad dream. Never did have any clue, and it hasn't missed a beat since.

I can't offer any clues but sometimes it may a bit simpler than what we were looking for.

I would suggest the video too tho, again if you already have, it could be one spot just needs a different perspective
Good luck man

Yep, its one of those random things. She fired right up starting the night, ran like a champ. Then just died.

I was hoping it would be a bad dream the next day, but lack of that beautiful fuel pump squeal let me know I was screwed.

Ima swap in some fresh fuses and check for voltage right at the pump.

You can also try tapping on the relays, and even swapping them around. The WOT relay is only used to to turn off the AC compressor at full throttle, so it makes a good spare for a bad ECM or fuel pump relay.

Good luck!

Yea I did the old truffle shuffle with the relays...nothin.

I have seen a whole bunch of intertia switch electrical plugs melted and not making good contact with the switch itself. I have even seen some where the wire melted back a good 6" behind the plug. I would pull your carpet back and really check over that whole thing, unplug the switch and jumper the wires and see if you get power.

That crap had my truck dead in the water several times last year until I figured out that the wires had melted somehow.

Im fixing to try the jumper trick in the video. The inertia switch seemed fine, I tripped and reset it a few times and it felt functional to me. But I'm gonna bypass/jump it anyways.

What did you do to your truck for the fix? Bypass or new switch?

The wiring was such a mess that I just clipped off about 12" of it and butt connected it together and eliminated the switch. The switch itself was fine.

Did you fully inspect everything that pipe touched under there, with a flashlight, to be sure every possible angle has been traced?

Ya know I cant even really tell. It was dark and muddy at the time. My buddy took some pics and videos between laughs, but I was the worried guy with the stuck truck. Rav4 Roy might have some footage.

Upon next day inspection it was weird. the side that got blasted look as if nothing happened, by which I mean still caked in oil.

I went out to give it a crank over hoping this was all a bad dream, but its still a bad reality.

The battery is getting tired of cranking. I hooked the dewalt waterprooof charger.

The storms here made the news today.

Will poke around more when it lets up a bit. the water outside porch is above boot height.

I found the problem.

It was the 30amp Maxi fuse. I swapped it and she fired right up.

The problem was trying to diagnose under chaotic conditions. Nothing I could have done sooner anyways, as I did not have any maxi fuses. I stocked up on spares now.

Thanks everyone for input and moral support. TRS is the best!
