Hello All,

I am installing a new A4LD automatic in my 92 Ranger. I have a new factory external cooler for the new install. Wanting to change out to a larger radiator and see that the 4.0 Automatic w/AC has more cooling capacity ( bigger core) than the 3.0 automatic w/AC. Has anyone done this exchange and can tell me if I need to make a JY run to locate a fan shroud or if the stock 3.0 shroud will work on 4.0 radiator.

The 5 speed swap I had planned on doing is on hold for awhile. Having 1 heck of a time finding the last few bit's and pieces needed.

I cant give you much info on the shroud. I jad to abandon my original shroud when I switched to electric fan. Depending on the radiator, you may have to source some different hoses, because the ports are in different locations/orientations.

i ended up cutting my lower hose for 2 reasons. 1. To rotate the halves so they would point in the right directions and 2. I used a coupler with a port for my e-fan control switch.

Purchase a 2 row radiator for a 92-94 4.0 Explorer. Will definitely need a 2 row radiator fan shroud. Those are available at most yards in the 92-94 4.0 Explorers, even some 4.0 Rangers had them. Both 3.0 radiator hoses will work. I did this to my 94 3.0 5spd ranger 20-25 years ago.

Here are some pictures.
