quick question about holley 350

checked the fuel bowl its just at the sight hole were it should. still the same story guess ill check the timing next that has to be it ! iv had it running since the duraspark so i kno thats not it

try advancing the timing by turning the dizzy counter clock wise, not too much though.

I assume your holley has the #61 jets in it,sounds like the bowl height is just right.turn richness adjustment screws in until lightly seated, then turn each out i and i/2 turn and try it.if it starts, adjust the idle speed and after warmed up reset the timing.

next, put a vacuum guage on it,idling and warm up turn each richness screw in slowly until the higest vacuum is achieved, then back one quater turn.

next drive it for a few days and pull a plug, inspect the porcelain,white-too lean, pink or brown just right.if white,go up to the #63 and drive another day or 2 and recheck plugs.

the jets it has in it are wat ever the ones are they come with in the box. im at like 400ft elevation i think.so that shouldnt matter. tomorrow ill make sure the timing is dead on then advance it a hair an see what happens i suppose, then hook up the ol' vacuum gauge

Quick question, you did block off the egr ports right?also what are the particulars for your area?temp, barometric pressure, humidity and elevation.

are all sources of potential vacuum leaks accounted for?

ports? i blocked off the one on the front an then put the egr back on so its not doin anything anymore then i plugged the vacuums coming off the manifold tree on the back of the intake. an those carbs have the pcv inlet an a vacuum for carb only so i assume all vacuum is takin care of.

all the other stuff humidity, pressure, elevation i kno the elevation is 417 above sea level the other stuff i dont kno

carb gaskets maybe? ones between carb and spacer an spacer and manifold?

Might be,I tried the holley gasket and it didn't work to well.used the stock 2150 gasket and it works good.Leave the manifold/spacer gasket alone.

ill go pick up a stock 2150 gasket then. the manifold/spacer gasket one is fine its the one between the carb that was not doin to well anyways.

It was the same deal here, sorry i forgot that little gasket detail.I just made my own with some gasket material, which can be had at most parts stores by the sheet.I have the holepunch set and scissors though.

Did you have that strange looking holley gasket, looked like some of it was missing?

no didnt come with one. but do yur manifold an carb gaskets look the same ?

Sorry,I don't remember.Have you looked in the carb and opened throttle wide open?do you see fuel spray into the carb?

yea it sprays strong. has spark turns over good i never redid the timing again but it doesnt sound out of time at all when turning it over an no backfiring at all. hoping this gasket is it

got the new gasket on an it trys to fire alot better im gonna go time it an then try er out. a random question but do you have a fusible link coming off the hot side of the fender mounted starter relay? kinda orange in color goes into a orange/black wire an in the same loom as the little push on red wire on the same starter relay? mines burnt up an idk wat its for

Got all my parts yesterday, so I should have everything put on this weekend. I'll let you guys know how she runs when i'm done.

yea got mine runnin yesterday so all worked out acutally hardest thing was getting rid of all the old junk! ordered #58 jets yesterday see how those work out

Have you looked to see what jets are in it?I got mine with #61 jets ,tried 57,58,and 59 jets, all to lean.Using #63 jets now.

You can get your weather info on weather forecasts and run the calculation i showed you,you already know your altitude.
