alright well i know about the whole 1 piece rear driveshaft swap for my 92 ext ranger but i cant find a one piece around here at all, but i can find the original 2 piece, so my question is that i have a 6 " suspension lift an if i get a 2 piece an drop the carrier bearing about an inch or so will it work fine till i find a 1 piece? an what year of a ranger will a 2 piece fit out of?

one quick other question about my front shaft, i got the BW 1350 manual case in it an i read from searchin about having to shorten the front shaft a bit. so how much do i have to shorten it?

What type of lift kit? I didnt have to shorten my front drive shaft, but I have the extended radius arms on mine.

Also being an extended cab doesnt the truck already have a 2 piece rear shaft? I found my one piece for $75 at a ford used parts warehouse in denver, but Im sure if you spend some more time looking on the internet you'll find one. Although you might have to get it shipped.

I had to play a similar game before i found my 1 piece. another option you might want to try would be shimming up the transmission with washers. its fairly easy to do. you may have to try a few times to minimize your vibration, and it will never be as nice as a 1 piece, but it might get you by. good luck

i have the 6" class II skyjacker lift kit with the extended RA's but my buddy told me that there was a couple different length front shafts that came with that t case so i was goin to try them.

i bought the truck with no motor tranny, just axles, lift kit, frame an body, so it had no driveshafts in it, an the only reason i was goin to get a 2 piece is so i can get the truck certified an drive it then once i find a one piece put it in, like this truck is just my trail truck so i dont rely on it everyday so if i snap the 2 piece or anything i dont care then i will look harder for a 1 piece.

ok thanks. ya i just got back from checking every junkyard in barrie ontario, an only one place said oh i found 2 on the computer but there in in thunderbay which is like 9 hours away an its goin to cost 200$ plus shipping to get it down here. i said screw that so im goin to check out the ford dealership or used parts stores.

Thunder Bay is 17 hours away, not 9.

Anywho, did you check the 400 yard in Cookstown? Or search for it on car-part.com maybe.

^^ lol k sorry i new it was farther then 9 hours but what ever. an no i didnt check cookstown ill have to check that. an ill check that website right now.

OHHHH makes sense now! ya mine is a daily driver too so I had to find one before I took the old one off. One piece shafts arnt too hard to find. i only looked for about two days before I found mine. :icon_cheers:

Cookstown might have one for you...I'd call them directly because their website is never accurate...I've searched that site before and found nothing, but when I called them (Johnny or Matt usually know their inventory better) and they had the part I needed in stock...but it's always more fun to go browsing their aisles for things..

ok thanks ya thats the one place i didnt go to or called i just checked the site an didnt find anything but illl give them a shout. thanks

so ya i called a driveshaft shop an they want 575$ for a one piece shaft so screw that i paid less for my whole truck. an i tried cookstown auto an every other wrecker thats about 2 hr each direction of me an no one has one so if anyone one here wants to sell one let my know, or if anyone knows a website that sells them cheap.

The one I found for my truck thats works well is out of a ford f250. I just had my parts guy source out the u-joints that are compatable with my truck and the shaft, and all works great. I have the u-joint number in my garage if you wish to try this route. Obtw it was only 50 bucks for the shaft and don't remember what it was for the joints.:icon_cheers:

an f250? what year an style did it come from cuz i might go that route. ive seen plenty of f250 at the wreckers. is it like an reg cab long box it came from? 2 or 4 wheel drive?
