Ok yalll been doing some research and think im startin to understand this, I'm lookin to set up a system that i get good performance out of and is easy to set up along with affordable. Anyways was doing some research on and reading around and ended up on crutch field and decided a good set up for me would be 2 12" subs dual voice coils at 4 ohms, i plan on powering them with a 2 channel amp compatible at 4 ohms, I will wire the subs in parallel. So now that i know how i want to set them up I need to choose what subs to run and what amp.
for amps was lookin at something similar to these

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_1008_Visonik+V217SX.html
something to similar to those, looking to get arund 200w rms x2 @ 4 ohms, lookin to spend under 90 just wondering what yall about those amps and if you could suggest any others that are good...
still lookin at subs to decide what i want pretty open to suggestions
EDIT:
anyone have any experience with these?

possibly those subs powered by this amp

just a setup similar to this is about what im lookin into, opinions?

You would be happier spending slightly more money on better equipment. Those brands are lower'ish end, and advertise way more than the equipment will actually put out....

in general, here are some good brands to go with (there's a lot more than this though too)

alpine, pioneer, kenwood, kicker, eclipse, infinity, rockford fosgate, MTX, JBL, Polk Audio, JL Audio, etc

try looking at those, if i had time right now I'd try and hook you up with a lower end but true to what they say system...

try sonicelectronics, crutchfield, and look around on other question threads on here, you'll find other sites to look at as well.

yeah i had seen some eclipse 12" subs that were rated at about where i wanted to be just kinda passed them over since i hadn't heard anything about them, also had lookewd at a couple 12s made my polk audio i was considering
as for the way im setting it up it from what ive read its a good and easy way to set up the subs but whats yalls opinions on it, 2 12" subs 4 ohm dual voice coils, wired in parallel powered by a 2 channel 4 ohm compatible amp
edit:
was lookin on sonicelecronics and was lookin at these 2 subs

and any opinions on this amp?

either the pioneer or the polk subs are good.

the amp sucks, stay away from soundstorm, dual, lanzar, lightning audio, boss, pyle, ect.

go with the mainstream brands, pioneer, kenwood, polk, infinity, kicker, mb quart, mtx, alpine, ect.

once again, give me your budget and what you want and ill put a system together for ya.

im looking to do 2 12s for subs, somewhere around 200-400 watts rms for the subs 4 ohm dual voice coils, really leanin towards 2 of those polk subs definatly in my price range, im lookin to run a 2 channel amp comppatible at 4 ohms, ill be wiring the subs in parallel, as for price range my truck already has aftermarket speakers in them now but im thinkin ill be wanting to change them, i want to run 6x8s on all 4 corners, really considering kenwoods i had them before and loved them, for speakers, subs, and amp for speakers and an amp for the subs i would like to spend under 500, the less the better, i have alot i want to do to my truck but im in colllege and tight on money but definatly want a sound system but 500 is about my max, im lookin at a couple used headunit locally, ill probably stick to a pioneer, kenwood, jvc, etc for a head unit a major brand, ill find a deal on a used one probably and just use that and i know ill be puttin more into the system with the all wiring and building the box and all but thats ok as long as i can stay under 500 or less for the major stuff, thanks for all yalls help im really learnin alot

standard cab or extended cab? sorry it may say that above, but i couldn't find it.

extended cab, i will be building the box myself, built my last one and it turned out great, theres a picture in the thread down farther asking to see set ups, will probably go with a sealed box since i dont know much about ported boxes and how to set them up correctly

10 or 12 will give you a different sound kickers Comps run 150rms and the cvt are 400rms the sub can be had for cheep, and are a nice middle of the road sub. the comps are around 50 bucks a pop and the CVT's which are a shallow sub are 75ish. you wont see a difference in single or dual VC in lower rms subs.

Ok ill look arund for a deal on the kickers, most seem to be a little higher in price though, so you saying that polk audio sub isnt good?

there just fine subs, but trying to stay in your dollar range, the polks have a 360rms at 4 dual ohms you can wire them at two ohms, but to be correctly powered you would need an amp that puts outs 800wrms which in a class d is gonna be a bit pricy, not to mention, a single channel, so the wiring starts to get funky. with two subs with dual voice coils you really have 4 circuits so you get you can get 1,4,8,16 ohm load. now with amps the higher the wrms the higher the $$$ also the higher the ohms capacity the higher the $$$. getting away from class d, and getting a two channel amp, you would need 400wrmsx2 at 2ohms. cheeper to find. but still 800wrms,

now the two 12 kicker comps at 150wrms at 4ohms only need a 300wrms one channel at 2 ohms, which it cheep and easy orrrr a two channel 150wrms at 4 ohms which can be cheep and easy too.

does your brain hurt yet???????????

you're succesful in giving me a headache, i was planning on running those polk subs and found an alpine amp thats refurbished thats rated at 250w x 2 at 4ohms, how would that set up work? I know the subs are rated at 360 watts so would they be way underpowered with an amp like that??
or should i be lookin at subs that are 2ohm dual voice coils???

Well what's the amp at 2 ohms if it's 250 at 4 ohms? And it should be just fine. Ust under powered. But your gonna have 2 ohms with thoes subs not 4 so you gotta look at what amps put out at two ohms

ok i guess i'm missing something but it says the subs are 4 ohm? but while were discussing 4ohm vs 2 ohm, would i be better off getting a 2 ohm sub since an amp puts out more power at 2 ohm,
for example, if you have a 2 channel amp compatible at 2 and 4 ohms, and the amp is putting out 150wrms x2 at 4 ohms and 225wrms x2 at 2 ohms and say you have 2 12" subs ones a 4 ohm dvc sub rated at 150w and 2 12" subs that are 2 ohm dvc subs rated at 225w which would be the best set up, im ocnfused as to the advantages/disadvantages or a 2 ohm sub and a 4 ohm sub basically since it seems easier to get power to a 2 ohm sub...

When you wire in series (look on google images or crutchfield's articles to see how this is set up) the impedences (the ohms) add on to each other. There is more resistance, which allows less watts to each voice coil.

When you wire in parallel you half the resistance, thus letting more watts get to each voice coil. If you have dual 4 ohm voice coils on two subwoofers you would have to run a separate amp to each subwoofer if you really wanted 4 ohms.

There is no reason to stick with 4 ohms, that I can think of, if your amp says it is 2 ohm stable. More power = more fun. (but don't over power lol)

your subs are 4 ohms at DVC so you have 2 seperate 4 ohms circuits for each sub so you hve to wire them right.
like this
http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=1&I=42
but yiou have two subs to worry about but thats were having a two channel amp makes life easy

thats how your 4 ohm sub is becoming a 2 ohm load as your amp sees it.
