question on tow hooks

i saw on the explorer forum that a guy installed tow hooks on his ploder, and i wanted to know, if i do what he did, will i be able to keep my bumper the same with the tow hooks on?

You should already have Tow hooks? If not rangers have an opening to allow easy installation of them you should be able to just pick up a pair and bolt them on without any modification to my knowledge.

No spot for tow hooks on a 2wd, your best solution is to weld a from mounted hitch between your frame rails.

4wd rangers have a cross brace between the front two rails 2wds do not. you could find a wrecked 4wd and get it off that one

no. Cause the explorer put it on the bottom of the frame rails. if you look you frame rails are a good distance from the bottom of the valance and there are no holes through the valance right there so, i guess you could do it but your hooks would be useless.

Front hitch it or custom crossmember it to mount the hooks to. As said in the above post, On a ranger, that wouldn't work because the valence is in the way, deeming those new towhooks useless. That is unless huge drop downs are used...



note: 95-01 Explorers/-05 sport and sport trac have (almost)the SAME frame as 4x4 Rangers. They are torsion bar regardless of drivetrain(2wd or 4wd). Same goes for the 2wd Trailhead/Edge/Sport Rangers. They've got the crossmember I've posted pics of in the past that the 98+ coilspring rangers lack. Front frames are totally different. Only thing similar is the holes the bumper mounts to and the width of the frame in front of the core support.
