I'm wanting to replace the carpet and headliner in my little 96 std cab ranger.

it smells like death mainly because it was my dad's old bar-runner truck that his employees used for making liquor runs when the bar ran out of alky. They would smoke in it and leave windows down in the rain, etc. hell, some cats even pissed on the carpet lol.

I've already replaced the seats with "good" ones and going to get some explorer seats this weekend and do that upgrade but I want to order some new carpet.

my reason for the question is this. I'm in the process of putting together everything I need to swap to a 5.0/4r70w from the 2.3/5speed I have now and wondering if I cut the carpet for the 5speed if the hole will show later on after the conversion to an auto even if I used the cupholders from an explorer??

I dont want to buy carpet twice but I just simply cant stand the smell inside the cab any longer...

also, who sells the headliner material in the correct grey for my 96?? I've got some headliner material leftover from two of my foxbody mustang projects but they look to be slightly different in color...I want oem color...

Depending on how creative you are....or how good you are at taking on challenges you can do about anything you want to your interior! I would not cut your new carpet because it depends on which year console you want to use. I have installed a 2001 Ranger medium Graphite dash and 2002 Explorer seats and console! My truck was a 5 speed an dI am converting it to a Auto 5.0.

Forgot to mention my truck is a 96 standard cab...ordered my new carpet off Ebay...I had about 150 colors to choose from and it arrived in a custom color in 2 days from South Carolina!!!!! Cost me like $119.00

why don't you call around to salvage yards and pic up a rubber/vinyl floor for a reg cab for and put that in until you do your v8 swap. That way you dont have to worry about cutting up the carpet

another question...

I know my dome light and door open buzzer stay on due to the latch switches as I've had it all apart and removed them and cleaned them...but they still continue to stick.

are these available aftermarket at the part store or just through ford or not available at all unless you grab them from the yard and cut yourself up and remove and insert into pocket because you hate paying $1 for something that may not work??

/end rant

RockAuto.com has door jam switches for $5 so I'm assuming your local auto parts store would carry them or be able get them.

Just cut the wires for the door adjar pin.

Mine stays off, but the dome light can only be turned on when I have the key in the ignition.
