Hopefully this is the right section. Im finally getting around to finishing up the clutch replacement but the mechanic is insisting I get a replacement master and slave cylinders. something about a quick connect that is a one time use kind of deal. are theses the two correct things?

but then I see this, anyone know what im talking about? is that white piece what he's talking about? I cant seem to get a hold of him and I need to buy these soon.

The white collar tends to be one use. They don't like being resued and don't work well, if at all, the second time. A lot of people think you can only get the collar with a line but I have bought a few slave cylidners that had a new collar with them.

The slave also does not like being reused. They tend to fail within weeks of reinstallation. You do want to replace that.

On a truck as old as yours I would do the master and slave as a pair. If you put a new slave on and leave an old (possibly orignal) master on it, you stand a 75% chance of blowing out the top seal on the master.

so i need that whole kit for 260 bucks? anywhere I can find that clip seperate?

It would probably be a good idea, but it can be had a lot cheaper than that from RockAuto.com

Check Napa. My last slave that had one came from Napa.

My master and slave are both from '89 (different rigs from '89 though) I believe, I think I've put 4 clutches in it over the last 12 years...
