question about rear ends

I would think excessive noise is a good sign. And that goes for all types of rear ends. :D

What problems are you having with your truck?

its kind of like a shuddering/shaking when pulling out in 1st and then as soon as i shiift into 2nd. then it started making like a clicking or like a jingling noise (sounds like something is loose). and that seems to be only when pulling out and downshifting. and it also feels like theres a griding type vibration when when get up around 40 mph. then when i let off it kind of thumps and goes away when i let off but it thumps when i get back on the gas.

crawl under the truck and grab the rear driveshaft and try moving it around, where it moves is your problem... if you grab it in the back and the pinion moves (the part going into the diff pumpkin) then your axle is toast (would need new pinion bearings at the least, if not a new gearset), if it's at one of the U joints, then look for where it moves...

def u joints... i had this exact problem like a month ago. i thought it was a tranny til my drive shaft ripped out lol still cheap fix with a junkyard drive shaft and new u joints. the thumps from letting up and hitting the gas again is the u joint shifting around in the yoke. replace them before you have my problem. i had the clicking and shaking on the freeway
