I used to do the same thing in my 2wd rangers and i never got stuck in them either but the way I see it if I'm ganna put bigger tires on it it's kind of a waste if I'm not using all of them at the same time lol but i can deal with the manual override until i get it fixed

They will not fit on a stock first generation 4wd.
With a 3" bodylift and brand new Explorer front springs mine rubs on the DS over two bumps I have found around town. One is the washed out driveway at work from one direction only and the other was when the city left about a foot of space between their new asphalt and the curb in front of a parts store. Both are exceptionally nasty bumps. Going slowly it will not rub.
The wheel is slightly turned too...
For a stock truck that will stay that way, I recommend 235/75-15's. They fill the wheel wells very nicely.
