Alright, I am new to trucks. I just bought a 97 Ranger XLT 5 speed and so far I am really enjoying it... except for the stock instrument panel not having a tach.

I saw this thread over here that said anything from 95-03 will just be plug and play, but I wanted to double check on that before I bought one off Ebay.

I also wanted to see if a cluster from an automatic would work?

Sorry if these are newbie questions, but I am what I am. :P

So, 60+ views and no one has any information on this? Did I post this in the wrong place or something? Or does no one know?

The cluster will be a direct swap and worth trying. I THINK if its plug and play the tach will work. I saw someone do it a while back but I cant remember if it worked or not. The automatic cluster will work, either cut the shift cord on the cluster or just pull the PRND box out of it. Let me know how you do on ebay, I sell alot of them and sell them cheaper than the guys on ebay

it is, i did it on my 99. also when you do it i would suggest replacing all the bulbs in the back of the new cluster you put in. when i bought mine off ebay half were burned out.
