pushrod measuring

So here is exactly what I did..
Used my old lifters that are frozen up, pumped up, whatever you wan to call it.. they are like solid lifters now..
Ok, got my adjustable pushrod out, set it in the the solid lifter. Put my roller rockers on. Brought the intake valve up on its dwell so I could measure the exhaust valve..

Got the sharpie out, colored in the top of the valve. Set the rocker to zero lash, rotate the engine 3 full turns.
Got the wear mark pretty damn centered(I think) on the valve. Measured the adjustable pushrod and come up with 6.750.

Now.. do I add .030-.050 to the overall length to compensate for the lifter plunger?

Thats alot of possibles. The stock lifters are hydraulic so they are pumped up. Are these Tom Morana parts?

I don’t know about the pushrod length because of the valve length, the people were you got the heads should know.
Just tighten the rocker to zero lash and then another half turn and your done.

I tried that method.. I couldn't get it to work for me. So I did it the old fashion way with a pumped/solid lifter.. then add .050 to the overall length is what those guys in that video told me to do

I would do the same. Put them in and turn it over until the other valve opens, take the lash out and add a half turn 👍

I use to custom cut push rods for every engine I built. They were different then what you're dealing with but the principles are still the same.

I just have to ask... are you checking the geometry with the cam at 50% lift? If so and you get the 90 degree angle between the rocker centerline and the valve stem... add .050 and call it a day.

Wtf is a pushrod?

Not to measure but to adjust. You can start it up and loosen one at a time until it stops tapping and then a half turn. We have found it a lot cleaner doing it turning it over by hand. Remember to set the lash easy without pushing down the lifter cap.
