pushrod measuring

Not to measure but to adjust. You can start it up and loosen one at a time until it stops tapping and then a half turn. We have found it a lot cleaner doing it turning it over by hand. Remember to set the lash easy without pushing down the lifter cap.

WHAT???

well what you typed makes absolutely no sense...

Sorry, I thought we went from measuring push rods to adjusting push rods.
You take it from here Uncle Gump.

I use to custom cut push rods for every engine I built. They were different then what you're dealing with but the principles are still the same.

I just have to ask... are you checking the geometry with the cam at 50% lift? If so and you get the 90 degree angle between the rocker centerline and the valve stem... add .050 and call it a day.
I tried that method and couldn't get it right. The way I measured is the way its been done a million times... you still add .050 according to the experts

So you don't know the geometry at 50% lift?

I've never custom cut pushrods without knowing how things line up at 50% lift. If you're off... you will wear out the valve guides.

Have no idea. I do know that with a solid lifter, the witness mark is dead center.. so I added .050 to the overall lift.

Okie dokie...

It's never the way I did it... I think your geometry could still be off and your witness mark correct.

It would be easy enough to check... put a dial indicator on the valve... Install your adjustable push rod at the length you chose... roll the engine over to 50% of overall lift on the valve you're checking... check geometry.

Measure base to tip from underneath, never from the top.
