is it ok to use power steering fluid for my power steering, or should i use the recommended mercron. the truck is a 96 3.0. ive been using psf and havent had any problems, but i figured i should ask. Actually I had been mixing the 2 because i had a leak and would just fill it up with psf because i didnt know the difference. anyway, i replaced my lines and filled it up with psf. will i run into any problems using this? thanks

I filled Deathtrap up with PSF when I hooked up the steering, it was before I knew of the difference either. Truth be told, it steers a hell of alot better than my '97 which is stock. I still haven't done more than a garage floor alignment to deathtrap to get the tires pointing mostly straight.

If you like your pump to make the noise ford pumps are known for, use power steering fluid. If you would like to quiet it down, use the recommended fluid it was designed for, mercon ATF.

i havent noticed any noise from it. will using psf do any damage to anything? it list ford on the bottle but idk if other ford vehicles use psf instead of mercon.
