ATF fluid, is it worth using in a re-manufactured AT or should I go with something else?

See...if you had went ahead and shipped that tranny to me you wouldn't have to ask those silly questions. It would be me asking it...along with all the other silly questions I ask on here...LOL 1stop not make any recommendations? I would use the best I could afford. As long as it's the type for the tranny I don't see any issues. Of course you're gonna have those that swear by certain brands... Walmart has all types for less than $3.00 a quart.

Tell ya what, send me $1100 and it'll be on a freight truck in the morning. :icon_thumby:

I didn't ask 1stop. I went to Autozone (sue me, it's on the way home) to see what they have, in Mercron V, and all they have is Castrol, Coastal and some other brand I've never heard of.

I went ahead and bought the Castrol but it can always be returned.

Go ahead and use it. Brand is not important, using an officially licensed and Ford approved fluid is. And the Castrol fluid is licensed.

Castrol basically makes all the oils for Ford anyway. That's one of the reasons I use Castrol GTX and High Mileage in my truck.

Actually running Motorcraft CJ-4 spec 10-30 diesel oil right now, trying to clean some crap out.

Conoco-Phillips actually makes the Motorcraft brand motor oil. The oil that goes into the bulk tanks at the dealerships will vary. They usually just go with the lowest bidder.
