Project Vader.

2nd picture from the bottom, I'm not sure what those streaks are, I used spray paint. It may just be a camera effect, I'll have to look at it closer next time I'm outside.

Had the trouble code pop back up yesterday, the bolt vibrated off. I grabbed another one and made it stay put, hopefully I don't ever have to take that off lol. If I do there's a way I can remove it but it will require me to replace some stuff.

I left the code there and drove to advance to test it and make sure nothing else was there, pulled in the parking lot and the light went out. Tested, and no codes. :icon_thumby:

Worst case scenario I have a ghost code and it's gonna take me a while to time it right so I'm at advance auto to get it tested while it's on.

I'm going to see what I can do about cleaning up those hammers, I like them enough on the truck to put the work into them. They will work until I find something better.

Now, if I wanted a rim that made it so my tires stuck out more than stock, would I want to add or subtract backspacing? I'm new to the whole rim dealy. IIRC I would want less backspacing correct?

Yes I know it's illegal to have them stick out more than the fenders, most cops around here don't bother to pull you over for things like that unless you give them a reason to. I do need to find some mudflaps though, I don't wanna crack anyone's windshield or something.

new york doesnt really enforce the whole tire sticking out thing. lots of cars down here have that and cops could care less as long as your not speeding or anything.

also. on the 4.3s when the o2 sensors start going. there very picky on what gas to put it. so if you notice it running a little rough when you fuel up. the o2 sensors are shot. they dont always throw a code.

just giving ya some heads up on it. i had lots of nightmares with my s10 blazer but god do i miss that truck dearly

oh and you would want less back spacing. the more you have. the more the rim will be tucked into the well.

Runs and idles great after filling up, I'm pretty sure it was the intake tube being off but like I said I won't know unless it pops back up and I can test it. If it doesn't pop up then it's just the tube.

Okay cool, that's what I thought.

fenders look good. how did you go about doing it?
i tried on a spare fender i had kicking around and sprayed on 1 decent coat, then sanded it lightly with 400 (i think) grit and then sprayed over a couple light coats, and it turned out awesome. wouldnt know the difference from a professional job

Sprayed it with a coat and let it dry completely, then hit it with some very fine grit cleaned it and resprayed. Let that one lightly dry so it was still tacky and hit it with another coat.

Not the best method but it's all good.

you want to keep the paint as wet as possible without running it.

doing the first coat. let it dry. sand it with 800-1000 grit and recoat.

then let the second coat tack and spray again.

then when the last coat is almost dry. hit it with a nice coat of clear.

mist the first coat on then start laying on the second coat. when you have a nice wet coat on let it dry.

that should ghet you the best look out of a can. black is really easy to make look good. for black out of a can. i prefer laquer because you can suck at painting and get a decent result from laquar. its not as tough as enamal. but its much easier to work with.

koda, im joining the forces with you. i found a fully loaded 98 s10 ext cab. 4.3 5 speed. power everything. with 98k miles.

so as long as the pt sells soon. its mine. ill keep you updated.

i was looking at rangers, but this is way cheaper. and honestly. ill take the 2-3 mpg loss to have the grunt of the 4.3 compared to the 2.3

I'm seeing 20mpg average with mine, the last four fill-ups were 23, 18, 20, and 19. :icon_thumby:

It's all about the gearing and how you drive.

well the s10 i wanted sold.

im looking at a 99 ranger with 100k miles. in perfect condition. reg cab. 3.0 5 speed. slight lift with 33' tires. 3500 obo.
