Project SVT

Well, I got an intake plenum spacer complete with bolts, just needed gaskets...So I go up to my favorite home away from home (AutoZone, I'm there more at AZ than at my G/F's :icon_surprised:) and get some gaskets, well, they were out and had to order them, so I went to Oreilly's (it was closer than AA), same, not stocked and had to order, so I go to the Advance Auto and they had one, so I got that one and had them deliver one from another store....I got home and opened the box and realized the spacer does not match the gasket...I have the GT40 intake and the spacer I have is for a stock HO intake :annoyed: So I guess I won't be installing the spacer just yet...But that got me to looking for that and some roller rockers for SVT, I just haven't decided if I want 1.6 or 1.7 RR.....

Jay has to put an stock axle in the back of his truck that won't disintegrate two u joints and destroy a brand new custom driveshaft. :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:

go 1.7 and why do you need a spacer??

These are the ones I have on my mustang, and I am pretty sure the GT40 heads are pedestal mount aswell.

A spacer prevents the heat from the lower intake mounted on the block to be transfered to the upper intake plenum, this allows for cooler air and a denser charge, helping out with power and mpg's...

Well, the driver must be the problem, cause when I was driving it, I had no problems keeping the driveshaft under there...Maybe we need to upgrade to a 5000 series joint :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl:

Oh yeah, driver's the problem! You're the only one who can drive and only one who can wrench! :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl: :annoyed:

Ok, just wasn't sure if there was another reason why you wanted to run it like valve cover clearance or something, that is what the mustang guys use em for. I wouldn't waste your money on it I hear they don't make any difference performance wise. Just block off your EGR, that makes a little difference.

I would also look into an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, aftermarket MAF's (use a PRO M) bump you timing up to about 13-14 base, bigger TB's, or port your explorer one.....I could go on and on... lol, I was way to far into that not too long ago...

I get 22mpg with my 5.0 and I romp on it every time I drive it.

Hes to busy revving it in neutral to get 20 mpg........:haha:;missingteeth;!

Well, since Jay's projects are all on hold, I gotta wait and see what's left when the dust settles....Chad, I might be looking to get some Iroks from ya :D

Hey rick, I am trying to nominate you for TOTM, but you TB boys like Maroon WAY too much! I can't figure out who is who! Please do me a favor and post a picture of your rig in this thread. A good pic offroad!

Okay guys, I'm back online again!! Storm knocked my internet out for over a week now, just got back on minutes ago....While I was offline I got a few more mods done...I welded my rear axle for max traction at TB, the V8 was spinning those tires at every take off and every turn, so rather get a locker or spool I just welded it since I'll have another axle going in anyways...I got my rear fenders cut, flares installed, I got the 37" Iroks mounted on some new (to me) rims, Identical to Railman's rims...Got em from the G/F's new ride, they are 15x10's are too wide for her stock Sport Trac, so I had a set of factory explorer rims with almost new tires that would not fit anything I own (I don't own stock!), so they went on her ride and I got her rims, which works out good for both of us, the tires that were on there needed replacing soon as they were almost bald...Pics are uploading now and will be up shortly...

Josh, thanks for the nominations, I guess I gotta get busy before the voting takes place as I wanted to do a little more before going up for nominations again, but a big thanks to you :icon_thumby: BTW, I like the front end swap you did and I haven't got to finish reading about it, but I soon will, and nice build! And here are the pics...
