Project started, need some advice

If you brought me that engine.....

I would throw all of that oem wiring away

And start with megasquirt...and gm based sensors where feasible...

It will run so much better.

On the older Ford fuel injected systems I have messed with, the computer and EFI system is a separate harness from the rest of the vehicle. Separate hole through the firewall and all. There are a couple of spots where the EFI harness is tied into the rest of the electrical system for power and ground. And you indeed may have a check engine light wired in with some of the other wires.

On my older rangers, the charge wires, cluster wiring, and power for the ignition all came through on the driver's side firewall. All the electronic controls came in through a large hole on the pass side. And the computer was mounted behind the pass side kick panel. There were a couple of power connections on the pass side inner fender for the computer system.

I’m on the same page. Feel like I’ll be exerting too much effort for an archaic system for the results I would expect.

The main reason I was trying to use both harnesses was to use some of the factory connections for the vam and baro to use on the engjne with a speeduino setup, since we have a global chip shortage and the ecu I want is out of stock, the idea is now scrapped. I’ll be going to a pimpx.
