Project "Should have been factory Ford" ... '93 4x4 2.3L turbo

For some reason all of this looks very familiar...lol. I'm about to start wiring mine this weekend. Was your truck a 2.3 to begin with? Mine was a 3.0. I had to change motor mounts. It's going to make the wiring more difficult but it should not be too bad.

2.3l 4x4

Trans and tcase are out. Dropped the case down onto what amounts to a moving dolly in the rear and put a rope through the front vent via the tranny hole. Doesn't feel that heavy now that it's out, but everything seems heavier when it has the possibility of falling on your face.

you have a 2.3l 4x4....what is the transmission?

I've got one, a 2.3 4x4 that is.

The tranny is a M5ODR1.

I looked into doing this.....along with a bunch of other engine swaps...lol.

I thought that a turbo 2.3 4x4 would be a really cool concept, but finding a turbo coupe, or 2.3T for sale around here is not too easy. Also my few off-road adventures lead across water....I'd really hate cold water to get on a hot turbo.....:fie:

This reawakens the desire for a 2.3T swap.

is that the oil boss?

hey man i have an 1985 ranger, with the 2.3, and there is a plug on the passenger side, allen head, threaded into the block...i read on here that the 2.3 blocks only differ due to this oil boss, is that what the silver braided hose witht eh plate on it in teh post with the picture of the pistons??

N/A 2.3 dont have a place for a oil line. youll have to find a different place to get oil, which there is a place, just cant remember or tape into the block. also youll need to tape in a return line into the oil pan..
