so last weekend me and my buddy went halfs on a 79 fox body mustang for 350$. it "wasnt running"; within 18 hours of us buying it we had it running. the guy said it needed a starter. bolted the starter up beacuse it wasnt secure; replaced the starter silonid and wires going to it it and she fired right up. the right rear quarter has a little bit of rust and the sunroof seal has been takein out...its rusted through....our frist plan was getting runnin strong and fix the rust then sell it. ive fallin for the stang even though its ugly as sin. so im buying it from him. today we did plugs on it,got a new starter beacuse the old one is dieing,got a new flexplate beacuse 4 of the teeth are gone,got a air cleaner that my buddy had laying around,and i bought a cherry bomb beacuse the old muffler fell off lol. shes smokein still beacuse it is all carboned up. the old owner had this thing running like complete crap. the motor and tranney were rebuild 6 months ago (i have paperwork) and it has all new breaks and hardware in the rear.

so i drove it to my collage were i could work on it. got it in the shop and on a lift. yanked the exaust,driveshaft,and drained the tranny. tomorrow i hope to have the tranny out,new flexplate and starter in,have the tranny back in. then monday i can go zip the rest up and top off the fluid. then its on to the vacume leaks and motor work.

i am getting a set of GT wheels this weekend with 75% life on the tires. i got a set of 289 heads im going to have redone and then im swaping them. i also emailed a guy with a 4 barrel intake and carb for it:D the same guy also has a mild cam i asked about.

so its at the school? if so i might just go check it out tomarrow befor class. and that rust isnt so bad that you couldnt fix it with a few cut off wheels some metal and a welder. and a can of spray paint or 2.

yup its at pickins. if ya want to go look at it its in ben narvezes shop. ill be leaveing for there in ten mins

its alive. the intake gasktet was fixed and ive been beating on it for almost a month now:D. i need to get out and wheel the bastage:icon_hornsup:
 
Looks like you scored a really good deal on this one. I bought a 79 Ghia notch a couple years ago for $300 and swapped out the 5.0 motor and C-4 trans for a engine and 8.8 with 3.73's out of a 88 GT and a T-5 from a 86 GT. Not long after that I blew the motor up and rebuilt a 5.0 out of a 90 GT. I called it my Frankenstein since I had so many parts from other GT's to build it. Pretty soon I'm swapping the drum brake 8.8 for a disc brake 8.8, also with 3.73's and a 31 spline eaton diff, from a 93 Cobra. Head on over to http://www.foureyedpride.com if you need any info on what you have. If you decide to swap front ends and put a aero nose on it, don't mention it to the foureyedpride members. They get seriously bent out of shape if someone decides to do that kind of swap.

well progress was slow. 2 of the 4 converter bolts were striped. and one of the tranny cooler lines were stripped. on to the pics

looks like ur having fun!

i am, the guy i bought it from was a tard. the starter bolts were too long. the flex plate has teeth missing. the starter sounds like a cat meowing,the cap on the distributer is held on with baileing wire,2 of the 4 converter bolts were rounded, it has a cork in a vacume line, for some stupid reason he added a rubber pice of hose in between the tranny cooler line and one of the tranny lines are rounded.:annoyed:

he also (from what i can tell) tossed a new carb on. no tuneing,no nothing. the plugs had probley been there since the late 80's:icon_surprised:
