Project: Moose-Knuckle

adam when am I going to get a ride in that mother#@*
yeah I will be wheeling the ttb setup for a while, but wont hurt to start collecting parts for the SAS, if I take my time im sure I can do it alot cheaper slowly collecting parts.
Oatmeal, Id like to Fab my own arms using heims, I will look more into it as skyjacker wants 600+ for their setup. Be better off doing my own.

my plans right now for the front end include an aussie locker, c-clip eliminator, new 5-760x Ujoints, full circle snap rings, and grinding the center slip shaft yoke for added bind free clearance (for when I do my rad arms/coils)
that should make it strong enough to get to the mall and back no problem

Just don't hit any rocks or that turdy five might blow up:thefinger:.I'll help ya when ever ya decided to go Solid axle but only if it's leaf sprung.

So soon I'll go to high steer. Before i hit the trails in the summer, but for gettin around town this is just fine. I took her up to 50 mph yesterday and didn't get any bump steer after hittin some gnarley pot holes. That was with out shocks and a steering stabelizer, so I think I'll be alright for now.

:fie: WOW scary steering nomination! I know it is only temporary, but I am glad you are up in denver so I know I wasn't near you when you got it up to 50! You get points for creativity I guess! When you get that pig done we need to have a colorado RBV wheelin trip! I am up for a snowbashing trip! Cool build! I like the rear fenders, but it would be sweet to cover up the gap between the frame and bed. Sheet metal or something would work, but hey, it won't make it go up the rocks better, so who needs it :dunno:

The only thing iffy about the steering is the bends but with out shelling out, those were unavoidable. It's the same style solid axle jeeps run their tie rod and drag link.

So why not?

Mitch ordered my front adaptor for me today. 105 bucks from tom woods drive shaft. Thanks Mitch!

I have a bronco rear drive shaft that was pretty puny but just the right length for my front app. cool.

damn u lol, im gonna have to steal that idea. i thought about makeing a flag a long time ago..

There was beer. And a trip to walmart. and a buck 87 spent on fabric. Done with spray paint left over from the chassis. Yeah.

My front tcase cv to u joint adaptor should be here soon. Then I'm usin a bronco rear drie shaft for the front.

I'm re-doing the steering in Jan when I get paid. All dom, new TREs.
I'll run the tie rod knuckle to knuckle, threaded not welded, and a mildly bent drag link from the pitman arm to the tie rod. My leaf pack is too thick to run chevy flat top knuckles and still clear the leaf pack so this is my only option besides a ram. This truck sees a lot of street and I don't want to risk a hydrolic line failing and loosing control.

With full drop I didn't max out my 83 ford van TREs so I'll just run an 83 van tre at the pitman arm, and FSB ends at the knuckles and where the drag link intercepts the tie rod.

I'll also be making a set of boomerang shackles to improve the shackle angle/ride quality.

Yes, I'll be at the rock zombies Feb 28. We're gettin a convoy together

You guys should really come up to the Dakota Territory Challenge next summer over Labor Day weekend. It is a bitchin time. Lots of Jeeps but whatever...lots of EBs, a few RBVs and a mix of other cool stuff.

Ya he's got a set of arms off a 79 bronco. If you are gonna do a rad arm style supsension run a heim on the end instead of bushing for a better ride quality and more flex.Trust me on this. All the guys at fullsizebronco do it on their rides and it'll be worth it.It's really easy too.

Yeah Carl, I have the rad arms, and some pretty new 5 degree bushings, and brand new pivot bracket bushings. I'll trade ya for a case of beer and 20 bucks.

Mitch and I made a lill RTI ramp out of some old wheels and some C channel. She did pretty well. I don't know the angle or how far I got, but I could go further. Pictures:

The flag fits moose knuckle well, rig looks good.

I haven't posted in a while so why not?

Saturday, Mitch and I are throwin in a 4" block instead of the factory 2" block. This should level it out. Hopefully it'll use the front axle as a volcrom point and make my front shackle angle at least look a little better.

I've been having occasional caster issues and getting death wobble. Part of this I think comes from the shackle angle allowing the spring to move a bit toooooo much over bumps. Hitting a bump allows it to move too much for the road and a less of an angle will move the chassis up instead of forcing the leafs out further. I'm also running 6* shims in the front. A little extreme, but that was the best estimate. I didn't get the wobble with no shims at all, so I'm hoping lifting the rear will take away a few degrees and possibly cure the wobble. An alignment shop won't do shit for me.

We installed a stack. Nothin fancy, just 2.25" ID exhaust pipe routed out through the bed and dumped to the side. It sounds like a pissed off big block.

Before team MooseKnuckle heads to the Rock Zombie festival I'm going to be redoing the steering using 1.5" bar and a tap kit to thread the ends for the TREs instead of welding. I stopped and checked out a SOA F350 with a good amount of lift and they ran steering similar to mine. I have a bit of play in my TREs I want to get rid of and tighten up the steering.

So yeah.

I also built a spare tire carrier out of a piece of 3" square tube, some angle welded on the side, and an axle shaft cut down and welded in the square at an angle. This way I can use security lugs and bolt my spare to my bed. I'll get pics soon.
