Project: Moose-Knuckle

Mike, I haven't been looking too hard. All my money is wrapped up in the SAS.

Now for the front it's just getting u-bolts, spring plates, brake hoses, shocks, and rigging up a square tube drive shaft.

I still have to get a rear drive shaft set up. I'll be using a mixture of my current stock rear, and a way fuckin long 1/2 ton scout shaft.

And kelly88, today was a great day to work by my standards. The cold sucked. All the metal is just so much colder and harder and impersonal.

It's getttin there slowly but surely.

Tomorrow I'm gettin u-bolts, plate to fab a spring plate, and some dom tube to fab a tie rod to move the location of the drag link.

The donor springs ended up being rear 83 Cheby 3/4 tons with a few leafs pulled. What ever. They'll work. Who cares about flex, it's all about lookin cool, right? lol

She's on all 4 feet tonight.

Holy hell is all I have to say.

I'll let the pictures do the talking.

My girlfriend's dad has a stock 01 Ranger, so I'm going to measure lift against that. I have no clue what I'm at. But it's 51" to the top of the fender, and there's 16" from the top of the tire to the fender. It's a little taller then I wanted, but eh. After the winter I might drop it an inch or two.

Tomorrow we're fabbing up steering, filling the diff, and workin on a square tube front d-dhaft.

My pinion angle isn't going to be the best, but how often will the front really be locked in.

Welcome to the sickness that's known as MOOSE KNUCKLE

:eek:Now that thing looks MEAN! Nice work man

Holy hell Batman! Now I want some day time photos, come on.

P.S. While I approve of your means of staying hydrated while working, I ask that for your sake, you dont purchase actual water. I dont buy anything that comes in a 30 rack, or doesnt come in a bottle.

adam measure the lift at the rocker panel on both trucks. thats the easiest way to measure lift because it factors in both body and suspension lift.

The shitty beer was consumed after the hard days of work. I'd rather had New Belgium but budget is budget. And hell, I'll drink what's handed to me.

When we need water we drink from the hose.

I'll measure the lift in about 10 minutes when I'm over at her house.

I'll grab some day time photos too.

shes lookin good, i agree with crawlin, it does look mean.....i need to get mine finished

Ill repeat what I said on pirate. Get a real camera. I hate looking at pictures some one having a seizure is taking.

Haha w3rd. Is it just me or is the front sitting a lot higher than the rear... like 6 inches?

Thanks for all the good words, guys. It helps the ego and the work ethic.

Sunk,
It's got a nice "pre runner" stance. It's about 3" higher in the front.

When I can afford new u-bolts I'm going to throw in some 4" blocks and level it out a bit more. I like the stance right now though, but it's hard to see what's in front of me unless I sit on phone books.

Today a cut off wheel exploded and lodged half itself in my garage wall and half in the neighbors garage door, about 100 (give or take 50) feet away. Fuckin Harbor Freight cheep sweet shop bull shit.

We got the tie rod fabbed up today, and kept it with in reasonable need of alignment. Most of our day was spent loading up the 5 axles and IFS shit I had laying around to the scrap yard. 1608 LBS of old parts. I only got 60 bucks. Bullshit. Bullshit bullshit bullshit!

Oh well.

Tomorrow it's drag link, bolting steering box, and picking up the pitman arm from my old ZJ. It's got a shit ton of drop, but not much throw. Enough to deal with till I can shell out for an extreme drop. It fits my box too.

We tried flexing it out with the floor jack but ran out of height, and then tried again with a block on top and there's still much more to go. Here's a shot at the end of today:
