I'd just mount the good cab on the 4x4 frame as well as the box...instead of going the other way...unless, of course, you like doing extra work...:)

Haha! Good call Mark...

What engine is in that parts truck now?

the motor in the 4x4 is half there and very questionable from what I've read. I've been wondering what the pro's would be of checking the frame on the parts truck and doing the cab swap and take the motor and trans out of his current 2 wheel drive and his drive shaft. get the truck drivable then as time progressed find a good motor for the 4x4 trans/ transfer case????????????????????????????:icon_confused::icon_confused:

Yep, engine is half there. It was a 4.0 V6. He had all the rest of the parts, just wanted to keep them for his own truck.

I don't have the time or space to store this truck for very long, so it's gotta go soon. Otherwise I would keep it and build it. Frames probably bent anyway.

$37.75 for a 5x7 homebuilt utility trailer (ranger box) registered for 2750# gross weight

Cool, that's not too pricey.

I've been thinking about tearing the rear frame off this truck and making a trailer, and making a box for it since the stock one is trashed.

Added a bug guard... this time without stitches. :D

Also picked up some bondo and paint. Going to do some body work on the tailgate to start, and maybe on that scrape on my bedside if I do a good job on the tailgate.

Also going to paint the parts trucks flairs and put them on the Ranger.

Have to wait for it to warm back up though..

Got the parts truck tore down a bit.

I scored a brand new spring hangar and shackle, but the other side is toast.

Couple of questions..

To remove the driveshaft from the rear end.. I remove these four bolts, correct?

If I want to siphon the gas I unhook the fill hose here correct?

Picked up some grade 8 bolts for the hitch.

Throwing it on either tonight when I get home depending on when I have to work, or tomorrow after class.

I have to pull the rear end and the rest of the rear parts I'm taking ASAP. The date for me to put them on is the 15th. I have to replace both brake lines on it and probably replace the brakes.

How do the brakes on a 7.5 compare to the 8.8? (drum) IIRC the 8.8 has a larger drum diameter so I wont be able to swap componets. Correct? I'll have to remember when I do brakes from now on I have to ask for componets that go to a 93 ranger with a 4.0 so I get the right stuff. Advance usually screws up anyway.

I'm also going to try to salvage the 2nd and 3rd crossmembers (from the rear) to put on my truck. I know the 2nd is gone on mine. I wanted the rear most crossmember but it's crap on this truck too. How important is this one? It's at the very end of the frame. It doesn't seem to be too sturdy to begin with, because ever Ranger I've seen had it rusted out.

I also need to pull the gas tank straps. I would just put on new straps, but I scored a skid plate with the parts truck and I want to throw that on as well. It's not too rusty, and should last me a while. Alot better than having a wired up gas tank anyways.

Other than that I think I'm pretty well set. I can wait on the rear leafs and whatnot. Mine are saggy but I don't have enough room for downtime to replace them as well. I'm also taking the filler hose off the parts tank because I believe mine is rotted out. That or I somehow aquired a gash on top of my tank. We'll see when I pull the bed to do the work. It pours out whenever I fill my tank.

I'm hoping this rear end will fix my sluggishness, and maybe improve the deplorable gas mileage I am getting. I'd like to see at least 18MPG out of this Ranger. Right now I'm getting 12 on a good day..

I also need to order some new cats, or find one from a JY. Mine's rusted out on the end and isn't connected good. The other guy who oned it in between when I did had it welded but the seam broke again.

since you have an extended cab its 10" drums which i think are the same as the 8.8.

I got the wheels off and discovered a bad brake cylinder. I'll probably replace both. I also decided (prior to discovering my auto parts store only has one) to replace all of the wheel studs since I gave most of them grinder rash taking off the stuck ones.

The good one.

The bad one.

And I picked up a cap. It needs paint, tint, and a new pair of handles. If anyone knows of a good place to get handles with lock bars for cheap let me know. Cheapest I found was like $35 for the set.

Also I ordered a new cat to fix my exhaust leak. I'm going with a cheap aftermarket high flow cat and a flowtech purple-hornies glasspack. I had a flowtech red-hots on my Zx2 and I liked it, I figure it can only get better with the purple hornies.

And I got some ricer decals for the side mirrors. A pair of "objects in mirror are losing" decals, even though it should say objects in mirror are parked since my Ranger is a turd.
