Are you looking for sound/performance or the 'bling' of a shiny CAI? Personally I say clean everything really well and it'll look just fine. Its how it runs that really matters after all.
:bling:

x2 on what RSH said, hope the Ranger runs good and glad to see you putting it back on the road again.:icon_thumby::icon_cheers:

Thanks!

Anyways guys, here's what I've been up to the past few days.

The main thing I've been doing is JB welding my oil pan. I mostly got the bottom and sides, the front was almost inaccessible. If it still leaks bad I'll try to get that next oil change. I picked up a pack of those 5oz tubes of JB weld, since they were huge and only the price of two 1oz tubes it was an amazing deal. It was like slathering peanut butter on it.

Then I figured I would clean up that rust on the tailgate, but I ended up just hiding it. I have to be careful opening and closing it so the chrome wont hit, but it's only temporary till I find a replacement. It's a little rough looking too but better than rust holes.

Donor for the chrome strip was my Nissan.

Next I dressed up the engine bay a little bit in my spare time, since I was bored and I STILL can't find my wire spool. :annoyed:

I'm trying to decide if I want to paint the air box and put in a modified intake tube. Not sure yet. There isn't much of a difference there but it's just a start. I plan on running red wires and possibly some other red stuff in there, just to make it look different.

While I was out there with the camera I had to snap another picture of the carnage with the grand prix. This will be replaced as soon as the JY has a sale I like.

Oh, and I painted my cup holder.. it was cheaper than buying a new one to replace the nasty stained one I had.

Big day is in.. well nine hours, technically it's already the big day since it's 1am. Going to put in oil first thing in the morning, and lay down some plywood to check for leaks. Then doing a check of all the parts to make sure everything is in order since it's been sitting for nearly a year. I'm also going to test it out with a short drive down to BOCES and back, if it passes that test it's up for a 35 mile trip up to Norwich. I'll be doing a fluid check, since the truck has been known for not only it's oil leaks, but it's trans and radiator leaks as well. The radiator SHOULD still be patched, but just in-case I'm going to take a few gallons of water along with me. Trans might be leaking out of the seal, not 100% sure on that because it wasn't when I parked it, it leaked out of a bad line by the rad. That was fixed well over a year and a half ago though. I have had it stick a few times moving it around the driveway and lawn, but that could be just because it hasn't moved in a while.

I'll update the thread with the results from all the tests.

Filled up the oil, still leaks. I completely forgot to get the front and that's where the worst leak is. I'm going to let it go until my next day off then I'm going to drain it back out and redo it. I'll try to save what I can out of the oil, and strain it just in-case some debris gets into it.

I also need to pick up a new flexible airbox tube piece. Mine is broke in half, and it looks like a chipmunk or something got into it, probably the same one that chewed on my air filter.

Here's how I fixed it, yeah.. that's medical bandages. I put tape over it for waterproofing.

hope it wont melt, we used to use ducktape on the back window of our old K-Car back in California to hold up the winda, and it would melt every morning, and the window would drop.

LOL a chipmunk ate yout air filter?

mechanic chipmunk lol

Runs decent. I think the trans might be overfull, it slips and I checked it and it was a bit over. I'll see about draining some out. Damn truck is weak as hell compared to my Escort. Needs better gears or something. I just did 40 up a hill with the pedal to the floor, my Zx2 can do 90+ up that hill.

But MAN do I love my truck!

yeah cuz IFS is a bad thing... :taunt:

It is, IFS is a LP D35, compaired to the TTB that he wants has a HP D35. Id take the TTB over the IFS any day, but a SAS over them all.:icon_bounceblue:

Had to say it....

Holy JB weld Batman!!!!!:thefinger:

I would do the samething too if I had to in order to drive my truck, keep it on the road and out of the JY!!!!!!!!!

Lol, you can keep your tire eater suspension system.

Must be a great suspension system for it to be one of ford's most hated suspension systems. :D

For my daily driver and work truck, I'll take the IFS. For playtime... yeah I'd use solid axle.

I want to have this truck done by august (well, the frame atleast), and the truck ready for the roads by my birthday in february. I turn 18 and want dad to transfer the title to me.

Well, considering a 6" suspension lift for a TTB truck is 1/3 of the price of the IFS truck, I'll stick with the TTB. And from my experience, I like working on the TTB more.

I know it's alot, but I don't have the time to pull the engine right now so this will work until I get the Zx2 back on the road. I have to drain it back out and put some more on though.
