project family wheeler. chop top 1 ton explorer.

At least here full hydro is illegal on the street. Should your truck stop running on the road you wouldn't be able to steer.

Sent from the road while ignoring traffic

They don't care up here, I wouldn't mind it if all I did was some short drives in town. But I still want to be able to drive it to turkey bay or interlake without worrying too much.

cough, cough.......

That would be awesome for a rear axle..

Its actually a federal law (at least that is what PSC and WTOR told me) about the hydro deal. That is why i just went assist instead of full balls out hydro. I know most of the local cops dont care, its the Park Rangers and stuff i worry about.

So you are looking at going 60 for the rear axle?

dodge stuff

They will be the only thing chebbie, might even go the newer dodge leafs like what is on Greg's truck. I believe they re bout the same length.

1994 - 2002 dodge Ram's used leafs that were 2.5" wide and had rear tension shakles with mounts that even with the stock shackle, which is longer than a ranger's would be at about the same hieght as a stock ranger shackle and mount.
helped a buddy do a bunch of work on a 1999 a month ago

and yes the leafs for a 1994-2002 are longer than a ranger's

Nope, been busy messing with other shit. Railman stole one Saturday to try and make a template from it.

I won't argue the first part, as it's legal here... you just need to have an insurance company willing to cover it, as noted directly from my provinces department of transportation.

You can still steer with a dead truck and full hydro, just like you can still stop without power assisted brakes.... Just doesn't do it as well. :icon_thumby:

You can run the double ended ram as assist too, and it will steer equally as quick in both directions, ya just run a draglink as usual.

I haven't even really looked into how much of a pain in the ass it will be to move the factory box forward so I can't totally rule out full hydro yet. Although I already have a tapped box and ram on the shelf.

I'm around 4" ahead and using a stock box location. Once you go with hydro assist the stress from using a longer pitman arm is negated so you can throw an older fullsize jeep arm on (think wagoneer) and go to town.... I've got a superduty (99-04) arm goin on mine.

Hmm I'll have to look into that, I'm not sure how far of a stretch I'm going yet but if I could get away with that it sure would be nice.

any idea how much longer that super duty arm is than a ranger arm?
going with a longer arm will also yield a higher turning angle, but watch your ujoints on your axles
