I've seen diagrams and have looked on charm.li and found that to replace upper and lower, you have to "separate" the column. Now, I truly don't know how to do that, as the information says just to simply pull it apart. I only have one of these columns and am in no position to just get another one so any help would be nice. I did find the bearings, upper was F23Z3517B which IS nearly universal across the whole ford lineup, yet the lower is/was unobtanium and had to resort to buying a NOS lower. That PN is E5TZ3517A.

Anyway, just looking for how to actually replace those bearings. No other thread has covered it, only mentioned column noise. Thank you all.

Charm.li instructions below:
Removal
1. Remove steering column assembly.
2. Remove upper bearing retainer plate, Fig. 11.
3. Using snap ring pliers, remove snap ring retaining upper bearing onto steering shaft.
4. Pull upper end of the steering upward approximately {1/4} inch. Position 2 screwdrivers under bearing, then carefully pry bearing from steering shaft.

Installation
1. Using a suitable punch and hammer, tap steering column upper shaft serration diameter sufficiently to ensure an interference fit between bearing inner race and steering column upper shaft.
2. Place bearing and insulator onto steering column upper shaft. Slide bearing and insulator as far down as possible. Place a piece of pipe .75 inch inside diameter x 1 inch outside diameter x 3.25 inches long (3.50 inches on Aerostar) over end of steering column upper shaft. Install steering wheel attaching nut. Tighten nut until bearing is completely seated on steering shaft and snap ring groove is visible.
3. Remove steering wheel attaching nut and pipe section from steering column upper shaft.
4. Install steering column upper shaft snap ring.
5. Install upper bearing retainer plate.
6. Install column into vehicle.
