Project Double R...

The new transmission works good so far. I got it to shift all the way to 3rd. I wish things would break leaving the car wash not the mud pit. LOL Thing was so nasty all the dirty in my face was tasty. The old tranny had about 1/4" thick layer of metal on the bottom of the pan. I am amazed it even worked in 1st gear.

The boss wanted to take it for a spin. She gave the boys a ride around the block.

I think I am going to do some raised anti wrap perches. The rear sits pretty level but I want it to sit a little higher.

that panhards pretty short isnt it?

22" long. Going to assume by the way you are asking you think it is wrong. But it is not. You have been mislead if you believe your track bar needs to be as long as your drag link. The Merc and TNT both have the exact same length track bar. My buddy just drove TNT 800 miles round trip to Moab wheeled for 5 days while he was there with no issue. He daily drives the truck just like I do the Merc. Already put 15k miles on the Mercs track bar set up just like that. When I built the Merc originally I used a long track bar and nothing but problems. Death wobble, bump steer, and chitty flex. Once I went to the center mount short track bar it was a game changer. So when I built TNT I didn't even waste my time with a long track bar went right to what I knew worked. My buddy says TNT drives great.

Im just asking because when we sas'd my buddies mazda it was about that long he got a little bump steer but not terrible but you really noticed when you droop out it moved the whole axle over at least 5-6". Plus on uptravel he kept ripping mounts off.

so i was just wondering cause he had the angles the exact same it was just short

35" Kevlers on 15x10 with 4 inch back spacing. The front coils are 6 inch Jeep Cherokee lift coils. The rear leafs are stock 64" 3/4 ton Chevy leaf packs. I removed the overload leaf. I used 1.5" lift Cherokee shackles. I moved the leaf mounts down the frame for free lift. And also built 1 inch anti wrap leaf perches for the Explorer 8.8. The long arms are my own home made concoction. Using Ballistic and Currie joints. And for the axle end I used Energy suspension bushing. When I am done I should have 3-4k in the truck total. Pretty good and already have strong interest in the truck. Might be sold next month. Then I will start Double R II.

That is why I build my mount super beefy. Just carry a spare track bar bolt for the axle side just in case it breaks on the trail. LOL Something must have been seriously wrong if the axle pulled over that far. My angles on the track and drag link are pretty flat. The Merc pulls over maybe 2 inches tops at full droop.

While I was painting the grill I taped the Ford badge on the flatbed going to get one from the Junkyard cause I like it.

I think I will be ordering some new lenses too...

Got the LED working. I had to order LED flasher cause the turn signals just stay on(truck thinks it has burnt out bulb). Should be here later this week.

Went to the DMV to get tags for the truck turns out it has a Salvage title no biggie but I have to get the PO to sign some paper work before they transfer title. But they gave me a temp tag so I can drive it until then. That made me happy!

Wow awesome build!

Got the exhaust put together, front put back on, and picked up a Ford badge for the rear here are some pics...

The truck looks great, I love that side shot with the flatbed finished, really turned out nice.:icon_cheers:

I have a question:
So, for the upper control arms for project TNT, it looks like you used a 1 1/4" - 12 TPI bolt with a CE-9114B bung. Cut the head off and welded it to a piece of 2" .250 wall with a bushing at the other end.....and on RR you use a bung with rod end (doesnt look like you used the bolt at all)...to make both style of arms adjustable at one end.

Did you change the design for driveability/handling reasons. Or simply ease of install or what parts you had at the time?

Also why not do the passenger side upper arm at all?
