Project B2R

Thanks man I glad to be back at it too. I really want to get this thing done before summer has come and gone again. Here's the final pattern with everything torqued, pinion pre load set and B/L at .009".

Now it's on to mocking the front end back up underneath the truck to build the track bar and frame bracket. After that it will come out for one last time to get wire wheeled, painted and final assembled.

Really good looking build, and as several have said, your fab work looks great.

Gear looks good man. I could live with that. Good work.

Not saying this is going to happen but.... would anybody be interested in this truck as a cab and frame only? I'm tossing around the idea of sticking all these parts under another a different rig that would be better suited for me. If I did I would be pulling the trans, t-cases, engine etc. and all that would be left is the frame, fuel tank, body and sliders that are welded to the frame. I'd rather not bring it to the scrap yard if I did transfer all these parts to another rig.

Boooo!:annoyed:

I don't think that you could get the money out of it that would compare to the work put in....(if that makes any sense?)

id finish it then after you roll it a few times then take the goodies to another rig and just scrap this body/frame

I understand what you're saying and you're correct, I would never get my $$ out of the labor I put into it. At the same time I have no money into the frame and body, they were free. The only money I have into it is steel for the sliders, cab mount and rear crossmember. If I got $200 for it that would cover just about everything. It's not a for sure thing yet. After I got done stripping my V8 project truck the other weekend, I looked at it was like "what a waste of a truck". I bought it when I was 19 with only 50k original miles on it. I drove it for about tow months before I decided I needed a V8 in it, the truck hasn't ran since. I had it almost finished (other than paint) at one point, then started cannibalizing the truck to finish other projects. I now have no intentions to ever finish the truck as a V8 daily driver like it was going to be. So I started thinking about using it for a wheeling rig instead, transferring everything over from the B2R. Everything is there, I could literally drop a 2.9 back in it and have it running in a day or two. It has all the creature comforts like A/C, cruise, tilt, nice stereo, the interior is in great shape plus it's an extended cab. At the same time I really like the uniqueness of "B2R". I like the short wheelbase and lightweight that comes with it. I also have a hard time walking away from something I have so much time into. I'm not sure what I'm going to do...

it would hurt to see another good single cab first gen body goto waste, i cant seem to find a shell anywhere in NW AR.. i hope you finish it to the point were its drivable, be cools to see.

I've decided to move forward with this project, I want to see it done just as much as anybody else. As soon as I get my DD back together I'm full steam ahead on this thing. I need to order another set of leafs for the back, I robbed the rear toyota leafs off of it for my DD. Not sure if I'm going to order yota leafs again or find a way to squeeze chevy 63's in there. I'm looking at the 3" Pro Comp leafs, they only rate the pack at 195lbs per inch which would almost exactly match my front coil spring rate and is softer than the yota springs I had in there.

i stole the yota trail gear leaf idea from you and i personally love them. the do great off road

Right on man. Glad something I did was used and they worked out for you :icon_thumby:

yeah buddy! only unfun part was moving those hangers around to keep my wheelbase the same. im spooled so it had to be dead on.

Back at it again after 5 weekends in a row of working on the "adventure ranger". Decided the Currie 9" housing needed some shaving and reinforcement. With the pinion angle as steep as it is (about 22 degrees) the lip on the bottom of the housing was bound to get hung up on stuff and abused. Cut the bottom off, and welded in some 1/4" plate with nice smooth transition to the back of the housing. Should glide up over things a lot easier now, and take a lot more of a beating than the stamped steel housing would have.
