damn i wanted to see how long it'd hold up to the what 36-37" tires u have!!
and what is this different direction?

Full width. I too wanted to see how long it would hold up to 36's. I think it would have lasted for a while considering the light weight/low horsepower combo. When I first started this build years ago it was intended to be driven on the road quite often, that was before a tow rig and a new car hauler. Now street driving will be very limited, and I want the extra stability provided by full width axles. I already have the front axle, just need the $$ to build it. Not sure if I'm going full width 8.8 or 9" in the rear yet.

not gonna lie, if i could afford it, i'd jump on that d30... but i can't..
i'll just have to slowly build from the xj d30 i have..

not sure how "bolt in" your lookin for your rear axle but you could make a semi float 8.8. seem's kinda like a waste of time if you have access to any 31 spline 9'' axle's but it's allway's an option.

I think this is the cleanest fab work I've seen in any build thread, except to maybe Gwaii
can't wait for the updates

Thanks :icon_thumby:

Went and pulled the D44 out of storage, have it mostly stripped down. Plans are gears to match the rear, Grizzly locker, some brand of alloy shafts (probably RCV's), over the knuckle steering, and a good diff cover.

My 4.88's, Grizzly locker, and master install kit showed up. Waiting on steering, track bar materials and a diff cover from RuffStuff. I sent my gears out for a heat/cryo treatment, should have them back sometime next week. Cheap insurance the way I look at it. I also decided that I'm narrowing the front axle, I don't feel like messing around with coil bucket placement or that sweet radius arm cross member I built. At least now I have hubs and a decent sized R&P. I've already started the narrowing process and will probably have it finished this weekend. I'm also picking up a Super 88 kit for rear, which among the strength up grades will give me the proper 5x5.5 pattern to match the front. Pics to follow.
