Project 4x4 Commuter Mazda

My track bar is real close on the diff cover as well when stuffing driver side. I've tried getting it to hit but I haven't been able to yet. What lower retainers are you using? And didn't you narrow the axle so they wouldn't bow out?

I had the same coil issues in my stock buckets. So I bought the adjustable buckets from Ballistic. Same issue, till I redrilled the center holes outwards on both sides 3/4".

Now mine only bow forward slightly, due to the angle on the radius arms.

Edit... Damn your track bat mount looks really far back. I would move it forward, and clearance the front side of the crossmember.

I'm using the stock lower retainers

And the coils bow forward, side to side they sit directly beneath the upper coil bucket.

That bracket doesn't have much ability to move forward. Ill have to elongate 5 bolt holes to do so ( I really need to).

I could move the axle back about an 1" via the radius arm brackets. They only have one bolt hole drilled on the bottom of the frame rails. There is plenty of shank on the heim to make up for that later down the road if I need too.

Kevlars run big:

Coils are 18" with weight on them. Unsprung is about 23". Basically what I figured on paper. It is a good height!

Mine are right at 19

Exactly what I calculated for mine! There is hope I might still be an engineer one day :icon_twisted:

Can you stuff a tire pretty well or is most of the travel from droop? I have crazy droop it seems.

Are both sets of tires 35's? Looks good!

The KMs are 35s, the KM2s are 33s and the Kevlars are 35s

Today got the draglink ordered and should be ready tomorrow afternoon, will install tomorrow night.

Got the brake lines hooked up tonight and the eyelet on the tierod reamed out for the draglink end.

Only really big thing left is to reposition the radius arm mounts a hair back and drill/bolt the final holes.

Trackbar should be good for now to drive but ill need one with a bend made to clear the pumpkin....hopefully WFO can help me there

Yeah I can stuff a tire pretty good, but I have tons of droop. If I had more up travel on my shocks I would stuff a tire better, but I would have to make a new upper shock mount. I am considering doing it right now anyway because on my 12" travel shocks I have about 2 inches of shaft, but that hasn't seemed to be a problem at all offroad.

I'm gonna move the arms mounts back 1" or 1-1/2" tomorrow and see how the trackbar is. Hopefully that will be enough to get it to mostly clear and I can have WFO make a bent one later.right now I have 4" from the edge of the corner of the fender to my tires, plenty of room to move it back. If I need to go forwar later I can do so by adjusting the heim, since right now I have it almost all the way buried in the arm

Got the draglink today from Parts Mike, angles are fairly good:

Also cycled suspension and my 11" Bilsteins are perfect length. Hopefully the lighter valving (170/60) is enough shock for these soft coils. If not might have to order some different ones...

I cant tell, but are you using the stock tracbar mount on the axle? Why not get a weld on one from ruffstuff? That would clean up your tracbar/draglink alignment and solve tracbar clearance with the dif. Not to mention be stronger than the stock mount...

Yes stock mount. Cuz then my trackbar would be less parallel with the draglink, and I have no way of going to highsteer right now with the current knuckles.

I moved the axle back 1.25" and everything clears now (tires to fender and trackbar to diff is tight) but it clears

Bled the brakes and drilled the radius arm holes and buttoned up the last few nuts and bolts/shocks.

Just need to set the toe and shim my tranny mount, then test drive! Pics coming

From the pictures it actually seems like it would make them a bit more parallel.
Mine isn't high steer and the tracbar could actually stand to go up a bit at the axle side.

If you could swing it I think you'd really appreciate the extra inch or two of wheelbase. I have cut a few inches out of my fenders and I know I still wish I could have pushed the axle further yet, but my pitman arm wouldn't allow it...

I can always adjust the Heims out if I go to larger tires or need more wheelbase
