project $1000 ranger

well updates, got a new bed, bought it from a coworker off his 93 parts ranger, paid $100 for the bed and tailgate.

Interesting enough the 93 taillight harness plug directly into the 2000 chassis harness and the 93 3 bulb lights work, so if you want to convert to the newer 2 bulb taillights i guess all you need is the matching harness that goes with them.

also to get the stepside bumper to fit you need to trim off the edges of the corner.

still progress is slow, but she is comming along, need to find some hose for the filler neck and the bed will be done, and a front diff, tag her in washington and i should be good to do some wheeling.

bonus from the local walmart, enjoy

how long did you use it with no lube in the front diff?

are you using stock length shocks up front? when jacked up by the frame how much droop? (I'm over 60, as such, an expert in droop!):icon_rofl:

Blew it being flat towed 1200 miles fort collins co to portland, OR. It was already toasted ao i just kept pulling it. Didnt have time to pull cv shafts.

Not much droop in the front. You loose a little cranking the torsion bars up. Maybe a couple inches. The drop was enough to rip the stock shock out of the mount.

I have longer bolts in the torsion key to max them out though. Might not be a problem using stock bolts.

been a little tight on money lately, but went and got another diff from the pick n pull, guess well try this again. the off-road bug has been biting me bad lately.

just need 1 more CV shaft, diff fluid, and a shift motor and my 4wd switch will work again.

was surprise to find a 4 door explorer with the 4.10s in it.

They were more common in the explorers iirc. I'd like to do the same swap in my 99.

Yeah most the ones i were seeing were 3.73. Only 2 had 4.10s out of 8 or 10. In the past it was usually the 2 door models i saw with 4.10s.

4wd is fixed, got some new cv's install and a new ESOF motor off Amazon warehouse deals for cheap. nice to turn a switch and be in 4wd Again.

took it out to capital Forest last week to go shoot and check it out and it work Nicely.

got bored today and installed some LED lights i got for Xmas last year. couldn't debt to put them on the f250 or the Ranger. but the Ranger won the debate after coming back home last week.

Cut the rear fenders, got tired of the bed rubbing when i had it twisted up last time out, and started on a snorkel. still have to finish up the fender and relocate the Breather tubes.
