'03 Sport Trac has a 5r55s trans, 166k miles. Slipping/ lurching in reverse, releases early prior to making 1 to 2 shift, trans "flashes". A very reputable local trans specialist replaced with a rebuilt trans upgraded with TransGo shift kit.
Operated good first 4K miles then the exact same problems re-occured as in the first trans. Second trans first tested, no codes, pressures correct at all points. Then it was pulled, broken down and inspected an again rebuilt under his warranty. Reverse and 1st clutch pack was burned up.
Installed, re-tested and again pressures correct at all points. In neither case, first trans or second trans was a cause for failure found.
Researched Bing and Google for TSB looking for repair, none. BUT there were alot of complaints on different forums for the exact same problem as I'm having.
Is there a Ford transmission specialist in the house??? Please???
