Problems in the rear end

Got y rear end yesterday. I'm glad I said I wanted the leaf packs left on the axle because the new axle has 4 leaf springs on each side where as mine only has 3 on each side. I didn't check the year but it was a late 90's ranger with an 86 axle code (same as mine) but he said it was a manual transmission. Did those manuals have better leaf springs than an automatic or did someone upgrade this one? Here is a pic but it's not the greatest since it was dark.

From the stains on the front that one needs a pinion seal, too.

Hard sayin... I'm not messing with any of that until I get it installed. He said the truck was running and driving fine before he pulled the cab off the frame. I've seen the truck driving before they tore it apart as it was my friends daily driver that he took to work 1hr one way everyday. It's gotta be better than what I got now. The price was right too. $100 cash out the door.
