so I hooked up the valiant power lock system per this guide http://therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77875
it worked perfectly the first time I tried it. I started this while I was also doing a complete interior redo, so I put my new carpet in and put on the seat, not sure when the lock stopped working but now I can't get it to unlock/lock.

It's getting power from the main supply, you can hear the receiver click when the battery is connected, and I can hear it click when I push the button on the fob, but nothing else happens. Not sure if this has anything to do with this, but now when my cd player is turned up past like 18 on the volume, it shuts off. I'm not using the same grounding space for the radio/lock set...any ideas?

I'm not the most electrical savy person, but I know how to follow directions.

Also: I didn't install the cd player, it was professionally installed.

Ok so I figured out why the locks weren't working, so here is the real problem. Anytime I lock/unlock the truck, the radio turns off. At first I thought well maybe when they installed the radio they tapped into the same wire I'm using for the locks...so I switched the wire I'm using for the locks, but it's still doing the same problem, turning off the radio when I lock/unlock. I'm not using the white wire for anything.

The wires I'm using are all 4 of the actuator wires spliced where their corresponding wire for the remote, the 2 ground wires grounded, and the 3 power wires spliced from my one wire coming from the power box. This is quite frustrating

hey, im the guy who wrote the tech article your refering to, i cant seem to think of anything that would be causing this.

when i did mine i used the white wire to turn on my fogs, and when i did it would make the radio come ON. it was feeding power back into the system. where are you getting power from. and it *might* be possible that your radio remote and key fob are on the same frequency and they are interfering and shutting of your radio.

I used the the wire that would have been the one used had it been factory installed, the black/white thicker wire, made sure it was the one that would have been for power locks/windows. Didn't think about the remote for the cd player and fob being on the same frequency...but I have almost no electrical ability and I noticed a clicking noise underneath the engine whenever I had the battery connected so I'm not sure what the hell I did. Dropped it off at my mechanic so he can figure it out for me, would rather not screw anything else up. Think I'll stick with the non-electrical work from now on.

huh, thats strange, im sorry you had problems with it. I havent had any problems with mine other than one of my actuators going out from the heat down here in memphis.
