I just installed a factory radio in my Ranger that come with the radio delete. In AM, I have stereo sound (both speakers), and in FM, it is mono (right side). What's up? Do I have a speaker out of phase? I had to run my own speaker wires to the factory plug because while the plug was wired, God knows where the wires went! They weren't anywhere near the doors. I just tapped into them using the wiring diagram in the tech area. With the chemo I'm on it is very possible that I got something bass ackwards! Any idea's

Thanks Guys

David

AM is not broadcast in stereo, but should still come through in both speakers. FM can be stereo or mono, depending on signal strength. But, I would have to say it sounds like your stereo is the issue to me. If you get sound on both sides in AM, you've obviously got them hooked up. Therefore you should have sound in both channels on FM as well. If they were out of phase, they would still have sound coming out of them, just reverse polarity; it would sound goofy and have no bass at all.

That's my opinion, it's hard to tell without actually sitting in front of it. Do you know that stereo worked in a different situation prior to your install?

No, it's a junkyard cheapie! After talking to just about everyone one know, I think that you just might have nailed it as being the radio. I'm going to look around and see if I don't have a plug so I can try the radio out of my Bronco II. I bet it uses a different plug though, it's a 90' and the Ranger is a 96'....I could just hard wire it as it is aftermarket.....

By the way, major thanks for the response!:icon_thumby:
